Round 15 Preview and Tips

It’s another short round with just five matches. And with all the Origin stars once again missing, this round could kickstart or break your season.

Thursday Night Football

Rabbitohs v Broncos

Origin Stars Missing

  • Rabbitohs – Cameron Murray (NSW)
  • Broncos – Kotoni Staggs (NSW), Payne Haas (NSW), Reece Walsh (Qld)

This will be an emotional game with the Bunnies wearing a special Jai Arrow jersey, both teams forming a guard of honour, and Jai ringing the Rabbitohs’ Legacy Bell.

For this reason alone, I think Souths will inflict another defeat over the Broncos who are missing Origin stars and Pat Carrigan to injury.

Friday Night Football

Dolphins v Roosters

Origin Stars Missing

  • Dolphins – Selwyn Cobbo (Qld), Hamiso Tabuai‑Fidow (Qld), Thomas Flegler (Qld), Max Plath (Qld), Kulikefu Finefeuiaki (Qld)
  • Roosters – James Tedesco (NSW), Reece Robson (NSW), Victor Radley (NSW), Mark Nawaqanitawase (NSW), Robert Toia (Qld), Sam Walker (Qld)

Both teams are missing the most stars to Origin with the ‘Phins 5 and the Roosters 6.

But before you grab for the tissues and state how unfair Origin is for these two Clubs. Ask yourself how these Clubs can afford to have so many Origin players to begin with and that’s before you add the international rep players.

Cry me a river.

The ‘Phins still have too much strike power here.

Super Saturday

Warriors v Sharks

Origin Stars Missing

  • Warriors – Mitch Barnett (NSW), Kurt Capewell (Qld)
  • Sharks – Briton Nikora (Qld), Addin Fonua‑Blake (NSW)

It’s sometimes hard to predict which team is playing for either of these sides. The Warriors still boast a massive forward pack and have the backline that will burn the Sharks.

One word, Standout.

Eels v Raiders

Origin Stars Missing

  • Eels – Mitchell Moses (NSW)
  • Raiders – Hudson Young (NSW), Ethan Strange (NSW)

The Eels without Mitchell Moses failed to beat the Bulldogs last round, who can’t score tries. While the Raiders didn’t trouble the scoreboard at all.

The biggest advantage for the Raiders is they’re not playing at home where they have a 2-5 record.

The Raiders should have more attacking flair then the Eels, but this is a danger game (as if the others aren’t).

Sunday Football

Wests Tigers v Titans

Origin Stars Missing

  • Wests Tigers – Apisai Koroisau (NSW)
  • Titans – Jojo Fifita (Qld), Tino Fa’asuamaleaui (Qld)

I really don’t know about this game. How the Wests Tigers start favourites after being thumped 0-68 by the Panthers last week almost defies logic.

Except, in my opinion, the Titans are the worst team in the competition. Yes, worse than the Dragons. I can’t wait for those two… umm… Titans going head-to-head at Kogarah in Round 21.

But for this week, it’s the Wests Tigers.
