Footy Tipper 2026 – Round 23 Wrap

What a crazy round of comebacks. And how good were the ceremonies and jersey’s for Indigenous Round.

We are in the final month of this year’s regular season with places up for grabs on and off the field.

The Comebacks

The blockbuster matches on Friday included some come from behind tries that could have changed the result of the games.

The Wah were way too good for the Panthers in Auckland comfortably leading the Panthers 22-0 with just over ten minutes to play. The Panthers scored twice in as many minutes and came close a couple times including one try disallowed from a player just being offside. A 22-18 scoreline would have made some Wah’s fans very nervous.

In the following game the Bulldogs looked to have kept their finals aspirations on track leading 18-8 with less than 15 minutes remaining. Then the Roosters scored twice to take the game away.

If that wasn’t enough, the Broncos looked to have the Battle of Brisbane won leading 24-0 after just 20 minutes before holding onto a 30-24 halftime lead.

One of the Fox Sports commentators then likened Broncos Ezra Mam’s hattrick of tries to his performance in the 2023 Grand Final. We all know how that ended and likewise this game followed suit.

Then we were off to Allianz Stadium where the Bunnies led the Eels 28-0 at halftime and never scored another point. The again Eels fell agonizingly short (well, for Eels fans and some Tipsters).

Upset of the Year

This can only mean one thing. A Dragons victory.

Not only did the Drags win but they dominated their lil’ bro’ from ‘nulla and put a dent in their top four chances. Only four Tipsters pick the Mighty Red V and unsurprisingly, they are all Dragons supporters. I didn’t see it coming and was one of the 27 to see their Standout go down in this one.

But I was cheering on the good guys in their final hit out at Kogarah for 2026. Four more victories then we will see who gets the spoon.

In Other Games

The Cows bounced back from last week’s record breaking 82-12 loss to easily out play the Titans.

It was the death of Fozball and the end of Manly’s chances to play finals this year with the Storm running away 42-20 victors in Perth. The Sea Eagles play three teams above them and the giant killing Dragons in the final month.

The Knights came back to defeat the Raiders in an entertaining match all but ending last year’s minor premiers’ chances for this season.
