Round 12 coincided with Indigenous Round and another wonderful endorsement by the NRL.
The jerseys worn by the teams were fantastic with my favourite being the Rabbitohs. Each game had their own unique welcome ceremony.
The final match of the round being the Warriors and Dolphins in New Zealand where there was a fantastic Māori welcome ceremony. Pity the NRL and Fox Sports only recognised the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags in their coverage.
Indigenous Round must be for Australia only?
Gummy Sharks
The Premiers made a statement against ladder leaders the Sharks in front of a sellout crowd at PointsBet Stadium (Shark Park).
Despite taking out some big gun teams in the past couple weeks, the Sharks have shown they are the new imposters. The Origin period will test the team out, but I wouldn’t be buying any GF tickets if I were one of the hobbits in the shire.
Fourteen rounds away from finals and I have two words for Sharkies fans. Cannon fodder.
Those Bucking Broncos
The Broncos were all attack and no defence against one of their littlest brothers. As competitive as the Titans have been in recent weeks, nobody expected this result. Well, nobody except for Tipster isha68.
Even our panel of experts all had the Broncos as standouts. Ouch.
Bronco fans should feel worried with a host of players representing the Maroons and Blues over the next six weeks. They could ill afford to have dropped this game.
Rabbitohs Win Again
The Rabbitohs won the battle of the Interim Head Coaches (and former teammates) with a 42-26 victory over the Eels. It was a war of attrition with Bunnies players covering for injuries that saw Latrell Mitchell moving into the halves and Damien Cook into the centres.
And on the eve of Origin, this was easily Latrell’s best game of the season. It was good to see the big fella with a smile on his face.
Round 12 Results
Main Competition
Lots of movement in the ladder with 5 punters in our top 10 getting their standouts wrong. The Creator has fallen victim to the curse of the Standout and has had his lead cut to 3 points. SMOG holds on to 2nd place. Magnum moves up 3 places with an impressive score of 7.
Big movers were Budgie (up 7 and into 9th place) and Big Moose down 6 and into 11th spot).
The Standout
Pathetic is a word I would use to describe our collective efforts this week. The Standout really is the great equaliser
- Standouts correct – 15
- Standouts wrong – 40
- The average score – 3.15
- Our round high – 8
- Our round low was – Minus 1 (2 tippers managed that – I was 1 of them)
Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot
