Wrap Footy Tipper 2023 – Round 11

Firstly, I trust everyone had a wonderful weekend celebrating their mums, and a big Happy Mothers Day to all those mums out there.   

The weekend started with the Storm triumphing over the Broncos 24 – 16 at AAMI Park. The Storm dominated in most of the critical stats and always looked to have the game under control. The game also saw 4 sinbins, 17 penalties and 7 ruck infringements !! The whistle dominated that one. The win marked the 13th straight win for the Victorians over the Broncos (I wish I knew that stat before I tipped the Broncos).  

Ricky’s Raiders continue to impress (after a mediocre start to the season) notching their 5th straight win of the season 26 – 18, this time over the Eels. The win keeps them in the top 8 (with the bottle neck of 5 teams all on 14points).

The Rabbits win over the Tigers (20 – 0) see them usurp the Broncos at the top of the table. There were only 3 tries in the match, but 2 of those were only scored in the last 8 minutes of play.

Please explain ? Sportsbet (yesterday) had the Dragons at longer odds to win the comp than the Tigers ? Does that mean they have condemned them to the wooden spoon for 2023 ?

As every week passes, it gets harder for me to post these articles. My enthusiasm for watching NRL matches wanes deeper and deeper into the abyss. And yes, it’s due to the just plain awful efforts of the Dragons. On what should have been celebration of Ben Hunts 300th match, this time they got smacked by the Cowboys 42 – 22. Yes they have lost their last 5 games by 6 points or less (thanks largely to Zack Lomax inability to covert tries) but that is little consolation to fans. Only 2 wins from 10 starts is not good enough considering the playlist they put on the park each week. The board meeting scheduled for tomorrow to discuss the coaching situation should be very interesting. I’m sure a Rob’s Rant is pending.

Main Competition

A bit of a gap is forming in our leaderboard. Guru2810 still heads the table on 70 points. BigBaba and TheZipzipMan are snipping at his heels only one game behind. MLC hangs on to 4th, but is some 4 points behind them.   

The Standout

A very good week for the punters ;

  • Standouts correct – 60 – EVERYONE who selected a standout was right !!!  
  • Standouts wrong – No one.
  • The average score –  7.69
  • Our round high – 12 and was achieved by just 1 punters.  YES – we finally have a BIG winner !!
  • Our round low – 5

Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot

It looked unlikely for the for 10 rounds, but we finally have a winner – and a big winner at that. Congratulations to Ian From Dublin who was the sole punter to pick the full card this week. A massive $110 is all yours.

For the rest of us losers, the pool reverts to $10 for round 12.
