The Panthers overcame the Rabbits in their Grand Final replay in Penrifff to the tune of 26 – 12, keeping their undefeated status intact. The Panthers started strong running in three tries in the first 18 minutes of the match. Nathan Cleary’s kicking radar was MIA, and he failed to convert any of them. Granted it was his first match for 2022, after returning from injury. Strong scrambling defense gave the Bunnies little or no chance of knocking off the reigning premiers.
Friday night saw one of the worst games of rugby league played in a long, long time. Both the Titans and Tigers made poor errors, gave away silly penalties and six agains. The game went 79 minutes without a single try. This was truly bottom of the barrel stuff – a deadest yawn-fest. 28 errors, 15 penalties, and two sides who are at long-odds to play finals footy this year. Titans 8 – Tigers 6. The only saving grace for this game was for the 71 tippers who were riding the Titans – we can breathe again. I hate getting Friday nights game wrong.
The walking mullet, Ryan Papenhuyzen helped himself to 28 points (4 tries and 6/8 conversions) in the Storms romp over the Bulldogs on Sunday . Final score 44 – 0 . The easy win came as no surprise to tippers with 100% of us picking the Storm to prevail – and 50 punters had them as a standout.
