Footy Tipper 2020 – Round 6 Wrap

Cut-off Times for this week…

Thursday 25th June 2020Panthers v Rabbitohs 7:50pm AEST

Tips will not be accepted after this time.

Who’d want to be a Victorian eh ? Not me (I got over it). The AFL comp may be on shaky ground with a positive Covid test arising, but our NRL motors on – even with real crowds !

  • The Knights handed the Broncos their 4th straight loss 27 – 6. The Broncos haven’t won since the restart to the comp. Anthony Seibold will now be looking behind his back given the current environment of sacking coaches due to non-performance on the field.
  • Speaking of sacking coaches, Stephen Kearney (rightly or wrongly) was given the axe following the Warriors loss to the Rabbitohs 40 – 12. You could write an entire article around that decision. Given the current situation confronting the Warriors, was now the right time to get rid of him ?
  • The Panthers notched their 4th win of the season knocking off the favoured Storm 21 – 14. The win sees them leapfrog the Storm and into 3rd place on the ladder.
  • In the big match of the round, the Eels suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the Roosters 24 – 10. I hate to say it, but it looks like the Roosters are getting back to their best. They have the hapless (hopeless) Dragons next week.

In other matches :

  • The Dragon’s had a boring win over the Titans 20 – 8 (should have been 50 – 8).
  • West Tigers did the Cowboys 36 – 20. They did enough to keep themselves ahead of the Cowboys on the ladder (9th place) on differential.
  • The Sharks did it the hard way, hanging on to beat the Bulldogs 20 – 18.
  • The Sea Eagles faithful are all patting themselves on the back following their win over the Raiders 14 -6. Big deal – they won. Phrases like “the gutsiest wins in Manly’s history”, “one of the bravest wins in Manly’s history” and “heroic effort” are over the top. FFS get over it ! The only good news to come out this match was the injury list. Let’s see how deep their reserve list is.

The Standout

70 – got it right.

4 – got it wrong.

Last week’s average – 7.21

Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot*

Upset wins to the Panthers and Sea Eagles spoiled the party for most tipsters (whenever Manly win I feel upset).  So our Jackpot pool grows to $20 for Round 7.

*Note:

– To be eligible to win this prize you must be the sole person to select the full card with a Standout.

Good luck with your tipping this week.
