Magic Round Preview and Tips

Oh-ho-ho, it’s magic, you know. Never believe it’s not so.

We have hit round 11 and what a season. The Vegas opening, ANZAC Round, Easter long weekend and it all accumulates to Magic Round.

Another favourite round of mine for the season.

8 teams, 3 days, 24 degrees weather, all at Suncorp and all days sold out.

The sellout crowds mean the NRL creative accountants can turn 55K fans over three days (165K in total) to 55K fans over eight games (440K). Now that is magic.

And to make Magic Round more magic, the NRL has extended Brisbane hosting this event for another five years which is great for those north of the border and for all us southerners planning a weekend up in BrisVega$.

Magic Round has some interesting matches. But let’s get the elephant out of the room now.

Standout

Panthers.

The Dragons are without young gun Kade Reed for the next few months with a broken hand so have parachuted Kyle Flanagan in to rescue the team.

If you have a lazy $10 spare, put your money on the Panthers to win, and enjoy your 30 cents winnings.

The Close Games

Sharks v Bulldogs

If there is a game the Bulldogs can turn there losing streak around it’s this game against the Sharkies. The Sharks have been hot and cold while the Bulldogs have been frozen. But on paper I rate their team higher than the Sharks. This will be an interesting game to watch but I guess it comes down to which team you trust more.

Rabbitohs v Dolphins

The Dolphins start this match favourites but the big if is which Latrell is playing this week.

Mitchell or Siegwalt.

Either way, this will be a cracker of a game with two teams that can attack and two teams where defense is sometimes optional.

I am leaning towards the Phin’s who will have a massive home crowd advantage.

Warriors v Broncos

The Wah’s are favourites to inflict a hattrick of loses on the Premiers(x1).

This will be another fantastic match to watch. The Broncos see the return of club legend Adam Reynolds while the Wah’s will see co-captain Mitch Barnett start.

This will be close but I can’t go past the Warriors forward pack in this one.
