Footy Tipper 2025 – Round 25 Wrap

350 Club(x2), the Miracle in Mudgee, more changes to our Comp Leaders. Round 25 was jam packed with action.

Where the weekend started with a one-sided slaying by the Bunnies, Friday night was everything expected and more.

Friday Night Football

The top four teams, who were actually the top 3 + Premiers(4x) Panthers played in a massive Friday night of football.

The Raiders and Storm may have been victors on this day but nobody will be talking about these games when they play each other in the finals (well, except for that try). If you are going to drop a game, it’s better now than later.

All four teams showed why they are clear favourites to take out this year’s premiership, but results could have been drastically different.

The Raiders and Storm now battle it out for the Minor Premiership but there is already talk of the Storm resting players. The Bulldogs will finish 3rd and the Panthers have now dropped down to 7th but are in no risk of missing the finals.

The Miracle in Mudgee

Not again?

Poor Panthers. Poor Cleary’s.

  • Two consecutive weeks the Premiers(4x) have lost by a try in golden point.
  • Two consecutive weeks against top 4 teams.
  • And, two consecutive weeks where Nathan Cleary looked to have kicked the winning field goal.

In case you missed it, or in case you just want to see it again, here is that said “miracle” in golden point.

350 Club

Congratulations to DCE and Ben Hunt winning their respective 350th NRL games over the weekend.

Manly’s thumping of the ‘Phins and the Eels win over the Roosters means the Sea Eagles are back in the running for Finals football.

While the Broncos big win also puts them one win out of the Top 4.

Congratulations again Daly and Benny. Let’s see how close you can get to 400.

The 8th Wonder

Leichhardt Oval looks even better in HD.

How great were the pictures of a sold out Leichhardt Oval on Sunday. Not only was the ground sold out but all of Balmain as well.

Pity the (Inner) Wests Tigers fans saw their team’s slim finals chances extinguished by the Cowboys. The game itself saw the Tigers race from a 10-nil deficit to what looked like a 28-16 winning margin before the Cows scored three tries in five minutes to upset the Tigers fans.

Yes, it was as chaotic as that sentence reads.

Better luck next year.

The Chooks Cooked

If only…

What a difference a week makes. What a difference the Roosters are between their best and worse performances. The Eels were in total control and deserved their win to give their fans some hope for next year.

The Roosters, however, have opened the door for both the Dolphins and Sea Eagles to knock them out of the finals. They play the Storm next round before the Rabbitohs in round 26. Now this could be one massive entry for the “Book of Feuds”.

The Standout

Not a good week for those who believed the Roosters hype.

Those who got their Standouts right selected either the Wah’s or Broncs.

Kudos to (former ladder leader) Robert Cook for picking the Raiders.

Main Competition

Well, murch much like his Roosters this week, didn’t account for much and has been knocked off his perch by Wiley C in a direct swap.

gdadisho remains unchanged.

But look at the sea of green on the ladder with Tipsters racing in led by the aptly named Runner at the expense of C.Y.L.C., B.S., Seano, and Big Moose.

Pablo and The Creator hold the final prizes with Magnum on Top10 door duties.

Second Competition

MR. TAYLOR, murch and Wiley C are in the prize money this week. But who will it be next week?

Bart Simpson Weekly Jackpot

No Tipster could work out the magic combo of the Bunnies, Manly and Eels.

The Bart Simpson Weekly Jackpot is now at an FT25 refund value of B$30.

Two rounds to go!

Risk v Reward.

As always, good luck with your team and tipping this week.
