Footy Tipper 2025 – Round 16 Wrap

Exciting games. Sensational tries. Upsets and a golden point. The Panthers in the top eight. This round had it all.

Jed Stuart scored on debut for his Coach/father Ricky.

The Raiders recorded their 5th consecutive win against a challenging Wests Tigers team. The Raiders may have stop scoring points after 25 minutes, but it was their defensive efforts that shone. The Wests Tigers had 65% possession for most of the 2nd half and threw the kitchen sink at Canberra. But the Raiders defenders kept turning up for each other time and time again.

This is what a premiership team looks like.

The Raiders next two months look very winnable too and they could be on a very handy winning streak.

Super Upset Saturday

The Panthers Are Back

The Panthers take the lead and are back in the Top 8.

The Panthers have sent a message to the entire NRL competition winning against the Warriors over in Warrior-ville minus all their Origin stars.

This was a fast and entertaining match where the Wah’s looked more likely to runaway winners. The Panthers team, however, finished all over them and have moved into the Top 8 after sitting last just four weeks ago.

Upset of the Round

Dom Young has never been happier leaving the Roosters and scoring on his return home for the Knights.

Only blakey94 thought the Knights could win this game (you can imagine where this Tipster sits on the ladder) while fifteen Tipsters were riding their Standouts on the ‘Phins.

This was another entertaining game to watch. As good as the Dolphins were, the Knights were better and deserved the win. Dolphins fans are having a reality check while Tipsters will be wondering which Knights team comes out next week against the Raiders.

Golden Storm

Match Winner!?! Not quite.

Bunnies fans will be disappointed not to win this game. They were the better team and outscore the Storm 5 tries to 4.

Four of which came from Alex Johnston who is racing to break Ken Irvine’s try scoring record.

At the start of the game, it looked like the score could have been anything after the Storm raced to a 12-Nil lead after six minutes. But the Storm keep inviting the Rabbitohs back into the game.

And the Bunnies did have their opportunities.

Latrell Mitchell kicked just 2/5 conversions including missing the winner at the death of regulation time. It was the second time in a week that he played for a losing team that scored more tries than the opposition.

It also shows he is not the answer to NSW’s goal kicking woes.

Ryan Papenhuyzen nailed the golden point field goal.

In Other Games

Reece leads the Broncos Comeback. Has he done enough to force Billy Slater’s hand for SOO III?
  • Reece “Lightning” Walsh led the Broncos to a convincing come from behind win over the Sharks. The Broncs really are a momentum team. If only they could take a leaf out of the Raiders defensive playbook, they would be very hard to beat.
  • The Roosters annihilated the Cowboys. Coach Todd Payten’s excuse for last week’s cricket score was all the missing Origin players. Not sure what he says this week.
  • The battle for the spoon saw the Eels comfortable winners over the Titans. Parra now sits three wins out of the top eight. Look, anything is possible.

The Standout

Only those Tipsters that tipped the Wahs’ and ‘Phins as Standouts were disappointed this week.

And when I say those Tipsters, it means not me.

Having said that, the results of the Raiders and Storm? Well, it could have been our 3rd calamity of the season.

Main Competition

Rossco the Pom remains on top while gdadisho has rocketed into 2nd place at the expense of Wiley C, C.Y.L.C. and Seano.

Magnum has left last week’s Top 10 door duties to claim the final prize (for now).

But look at who he let into the Top 10…

Micrider, Panther29, Runner.

Ad is now relegated to door security. Are the flood gates about to open?

Second Competition

Coming soon. Starts from Round 18.

Just one week away now.

Bart Simpson Weekly Jackpot

Any chance of a winner was all over with the Knights’ victory over the Dolphins.

The Bart Simpson Weekly Jackpot now stands at B$140.

As always, good luck with your team and tipping this week.

The Dragons were lucky to get the 2 points from the bye. The bye played well but in the end the big red v just prevailed in a tight one.
