Record crowds, comebacks, blowouts, upsets, a golden point and exciting games. It’s another fantastic round of NRL.
Another round where any team can win on their day. This inconsistent form has been a nightmare for Tipsters but it keeps fans hopes their team is still in contention to make the finals.
This of course, does not apply to the Bulldogs.
Doggies Real Deal

A record 65,000+ Bulldogs and 300 Rabbitohs fans (that’s what it looked like to me) watched the undefeated Doggies hold a 32-0 clean sheet over the Bunnies.
The Dogs are the real deal in 2025.
The Bulldogs have the most miserly defence conceding just 58 points so far. In comparison, the Dragons defence sits 2nd with 118 points scored while the Big Three of Storm (136), Broncos (144) and Panthers (182) languish well behind.
Defence wins Premierships! It’s early days but get excited Doggie supporters.
Panthers Are Back(?)

It was only a matter of time.
The Panthers break their losing streak avenging their Round 2 shock loss to the Roosters that started the rot. We finally saw the Premiers(4x) machine gelling with a strong 40-12 victory.
They now face the Tommy-less Sea Eagles, Broncos and Cows before their Round 11 bye. Are they back? We will know by then.
Fool’s Gold

I have never seen a Golden Point result quite like the Warriors v Broncos.
The Broncos bombed opportunities to break the 18-18 deadlock in the dying minutes of regulation time. Having said that, Warriors’ goal kicker Luke Metcalf had only managed 1 from 5 and they probably shouldn’t have been in that position.
The Broncos did well to fight back from 18-6 down to set up an exciting golden point finish. Only for extra time to start with Reece Walsh kicking out on the full and Luke Metcalf converting a penalty goal from halfway to make it 2 from 6 attempts.
I have never seen anything so anticlimactic.
Upsets and Comebacks

Dragons’ fans would have felt déjà vu all over again when they let the Sea Eagles back into the contest after leading 14-0. In the end no Tommy Turbo, not victory. The Dragons upset Manly 20-18.
Nobody would have picked the Dolphins winning after the Storm raced away to a 16-2 lead after just 23 minutes. But six tries later and the Dolphins knock off another heavy weight having beaten the Panthers a week earlier.
The Titans were in total control leading the Raiders 16-0 after 20 minutes. I still don’t know how it was 16-16 at half time. Needless to say, the Raiders had the win in their grasp when Sebastian Kris scored just 2 minutes in the 2nd Half.
Raiders comfortable 30-20 winners.
Holy Moses!

What a great spectacle to end the Easter long weekend.
That was one very entertaining match to watch with the Eels running away 38-22 victors at the end.
The Eels scored three quick 2nd half tries to break a 10-10 half time score. The Tigers hit back to trail 22-26 with six minutes remaining before two more Eels tries sealed victory.
The difference in the two teams were the halfbacks.
Mitchell Moses’ return after a long injury lifted the team. He and his team were magnificent.
While the Tigers missed Lachlan Galvin in the halves.
As much as I like Adam Doueihi, he is not suited as a halfback. Benji has some major headaches as Galvin’s return is untenable now he’s considering legal action against the Club and teammates.
Poor Wests Tigers supporters.

The Standout
It was another sorry tale of Standouts especially if you were one of the 32 that picked the unbackable Storm v Dolphins.
Only those brave few that picked the Dragons, Bulldogs and Sharks shone bright this week.
Main Competition
C.Y.L.C. continues to increase his lead with Rossco the Pom and MB swapping places in the main prizes.
Seano and Wiley C (welcome) feature next with our former ladder leader Robert Cook desperately holding onto the $30 prize.

With a round high of eight, the Bart Simpon Weekly Jackpot continues to grow and now stands at B$50.
Good luck with your team and tipping this week.
