Holy Smoke. What happened?
All the favourites. All those teams I talked up last week went down.
Talk about the “Kiss of Death”. Our one (?) Melbourne Storm fan would’ve been happy they had a bye.
But, what a second round!
The upsets all started Friday with the Warriors defeating the Sea Eagles (hooray!) followed by the unbackable Roosters beating four-time reigning premiers the Panthers.
Only Tipster isha68 predicted this.
Then, move onto Saturday as the Rabbitohs broke Dragons’ fans hearts with a field goal before the Raiders easily dismantled the Broncos warhorse.
There were a lot of highlights over the weekend.
- The Knights, Sharks, Warriors, Raiders (need I say more?)
- Wests Tigers thrashing the Eels in the Spoon Bowl rematch
- The Bulldogs impressive win at their spiritual home, Belmore Sports Ground
Match of the Round
My match of the round had to be the Roosters win over the Panthers.
The Panthers looked clunky throughout the game but always managed to stay in touch. The last 10 minutes and their game management was a throwback to older times. This was such a good finish, I really wished they scored off that last play to force golden point.
The Roosters were from the “upside down world” when compared to Round 1. They were fantastic. Their forwards and sweep plays killed the Panthers and they deserved the win.
This sets-up a great kick-off for Round 3 with a Grand Final rematch between the Storm and Panthers on Thursday and the Wahs v Chooks Friday.

What a great concept. The potential to elevate your score or throw a spanner in the works.
I cannot remember such carnage in a single round before. I love the chaos it brings to the competition (even at my expense). But instead of kicking stones, since most of us are in the same boat, lets celebrate the luckiest smartest Tipsters in our competition (so far).
