A massive comeback by the Premiers, a golden point, biting allegations and more. Spoiler Alert … Oh, and we have our 2nd Winner of the season.
Comeback Of All Comebacks
I feel for the Parra faithful even if there were only three true believes tipping them against the Panthers.
For 73 minutes, the Eels were the better side. They also have history in always beating the Panthers at their home venue since 2021. But it only took the Panthers three minutes to evaporate the Eels 14 point lead.
Three tries. Three minutes. The Blue & Gold army walked out stunned and many a Tipster let out a giant sigh of relief.
Panthers win 36-34.
Local Derby
The Dragons hosted their neighbours, the Bulldogs, at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium in front of a sellout crowd of 18,416 fans. Bulldog aligned commentators previously stated the game should have moved to a bigger venue to accommodate Bulldogs fans. I can tell you there were a lot of Doggie supporters at the ground. That’s why it was sold out. Let’s not mention the Bulldogs locking out their own supporters and Raiders fans at Belmore the previous week.
The game with all the hype and build up ended up a bit of a fizzer. The Bulldogs swooped onto an intercept pass three minutes into the match and led all the way. The Dragons made very little impact against the team with the 2nd best defence in the league.
Doggies 28-10.
Man Bites Dog
All the talk after the game was the alleged biting incident by Kyle Flanagan on Bulldogs captain Stephen Crichton. Flanagan has been sent directly to the NRL Judiciary and will potentially miss the remainder of the season.
I have a problem with the tackle for other reasons. What was Stephen Crichton doing forcing his head and face into Flanagan’s face and mouth? This is a form of headbutting.
In Other Games
- The Dolphins’ Sean O’Sullivan kicked the winning field goal in golden point to sink the Warriors. If only the Wah’s goal kicking was better.
- The Sharks have cemented themselves in the Top 4 after a 44-0 drubbing of the Titans.
- The Raiders lost. Stinky won. I know, nobody but Bart Simpson and Adel Messih cares.
- The Wests Tigers may as well start planning for their 2025 wooden spoon defence.
There is only one month of football left.
Which teams will make the final eight? Who is going to catch GeorgeTheDragon?
