It’s the final Origin impacted round and we are in the home straight in the race to the finals.
Generals Return
What a difference Adam Reynolds and Nathan Cleary made for their teams with successful returns from injury.
The Broncos snapped a six match losing slide and looked a thousand times better with Reynolds steering the team around the park. Reece Walsh had a blinder no longer having to be the main player. The Broncs led 24-nil before the Knights managed to score.
In Penrith, Nathan Cleary as cool as a cucumber slotted over a two point field goal to win the game in golden point. The Panthers had to chase down the Dolphins who led by 14 points with twenty minutes remaining. This was reminiscent to their grand final exploits in what would have been one of the biggest upsets of the year. There would have been a lot of nervous Tipsters including yours truly (The Creator) that would have been hammered.
Table topping Storm also managed a strong win against the much-fancied Roosters. Key player Cameron Munster looks set to return next week.
Close But No Cigar
There were some very close games this round including the forementioned Panthers v Dolphins match.
The Raiders held on to win 20-18 despite the Warriors scoring more tries and missing a conversion (i.e. sitter) that would have levelled the scores.
The Rabbitohs may have run away with a 42-28 win against the Wests Tigers, however, the Tigers led 28-24 before a simple turnover gifted Souths the go-ahead try.
And in Townsville, the Cowboys scored in the dying minutes to pip the Bulldogs 28-26.
In Other Games
- Manly won. Yawn
Round 20 Results
Main Competition
Things are tight at the top. The Creator made up the 2-match deficit on GerogeTheDragon, but still trails him on cumulative scores by 52 points. They have opened up a 5 match lead over the rest of the pack so it looks like we will have a 2 horse race to the semis.
SMOG moves into 3rd place by virtue of a Fullcard (11 points and up 4 places). Magnum holds down 4th (equal on points but down on cumulative scores to SMOG).
Bart Simpson now takes up 5th place. He also had a Fullcard and moved up 3 places and into the $$$
2nd Chance Competition
All it takes to make a difference in this comp is to manage a big score. All of last weeks leaders have dropped out of the money and have been overtaken by 4 players who scored fullcards. (Remember though – It is only round 3 of 10).
Our new leaderboard has Bart Simpson leading from Matt Brownie and SMOG by 1 measly cumulative point !!
Again, it needs to be said….. there are 10 players within 14 points of the lead, so keeps putting your tips in.
