Only five games this week and a couple big blowouts.
The Said Blowouts
The cellar dwellers all notched up wins this round with the Titans blowing away the Warriors 66-6 and the Wests Tigers 48-24 victors over the Raiders.
The Titans were in scintillating form scoring 48 unanswered points before the Warriors troubled the scoreboard.
The Warriors are a hard team to follow. What they put up here was substandard. With 50+ points scored against them, you can put the red biro through them as premiership contenders. In fact, they will be hard pressed to make the finals. Given all the goodwill back in New Zealand, with sellout home matches and the Super Rugby rescheduling their finals to not clash, this would be disastrous.
Come on Wahs!
Wests Tigers fans rejoice. For the second time this season the Tigers have registered back to back victories. The 18-2 halftime lead quickly jumped to 30-2 before the Raiders made a minor comeback. The final score was flattering to the Raiders since the West Tigers left four try opportunities on the field in the 1st half and the Raiders scored three tries against 12 men.
Dolphins v Storm
This was the highlight match of the round with some top shelf tries and defense efforts. 18 all at halftime, the Storm looked to have the game won leading 30-18 with fifteen minutes remaining. The Dolphins had other plans and only desperate defense in the dying minutes stopped this game going to golden point.
Battle of the Spoon
With Souths, Titans and Wests Tigers all notching wins, the Parramatta Eels are now sitting at the bottom of the NRL Ladder. This is despite having two points for the bye. Sometimes it’s better to play.
In Other Games
- Not even a pitch invader or finding her iphone on the field later in the match, or the Roosters being reduced to 11 players could not make this game any less interesting. Bulldogs lose but stay in the top eight
- Souths led 8-0 after 19 mins and the score didn’t change until two minutes from fulltime. What a bludger of a game. Manly showed just how reliant they are on DCE. Former Tiger, Luke Brooks reinforced his reputation as a 2nd string half (sorry Brooksie)
Round 16 Results
Main Competition
GeorgeTheDragon and The Creator cheated and submitted the same tips, so they remain in 1st and 2nd places. UpthePamfers also remains in 3rd place but is now 6 points behind the Creator. Murch and Magnum (also on 88 with UpthePamfers) are still within sniffing distance. Big Movers Bart Simpson (down 5 places to 12th) and Lukebrooksbiggestfan (up 5 places into 13th).
The Standout
The split round naturally means that the average score decreases, but 25 tippers getting their standout wrong was a bigger contributor to the crappy 2.67 average.
- Standouts correct – 29
- Standouts wrong – 25
- The average score – 2.67
- Our round high – 6
- Our round low was – Minus 1
Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot
