Well, round 15 started with upset wins before returning to normal transmission.
Wests Tigers Win
Buoyed by the news that Leichhardt Oval is due for a $40M upgrade by the Prime Minister and Mayor, the Inner-Wests Tigers did their pilgrimage to experience the final days of the decaying ‘Old’ stadium.
And the faithful were rewarded with the Tigers 3rd victory of the season.
The Wests Tigers turned up their defense to holdout the Titans in the 1st half trailing just 6-10. The Titans had the majority of possession and looked to score multiple times but desperate defense kept the Tigers in the game.
The second half couldn’t have been more different. Error after error after error invited the Tigers back into the game who nailed the victory in the final minutes.
The Titans led most stats including 9 line breaks to 2 but the poor completion rate was their undoing.
Congratulations to all the fans at the oval who would have lapped it in. Still very unconvincing but a win is a win.
The Titans 8 point loss is even more bitter in that the Wests Tigers have leapt frogged them and relegated the Gold Coast to last by 3 differential points.
Bank on The Top Two
With all the bookies favourites falling, you can always bank on the Storm and Panthers to win.
Both teams sit at the top of the table and missing their main player makers in Cameron Munster and Nathan Cleary. If they can navigate the representative period, they will be hard to beat.
The depleted Storm take on the depleted Dolphins next week and a bye before Origin 3.
The Panthers have byes before the next two Origin matches
Herbie, Herbie, Herbie
Serial diver, Herbie Farnworth was it again in the final minutes of the Dolphins upset win over the Sharks. Feeling an opportunity for a potential hip-drop penalty, Herbie stayed down in pain while the Bunker reviewed the tackle. Channel Nine commentators were concerned when they cried ‘Oh, no. We’ve got an injury”.
But we all know better. No problem with the tackle, and, no problem with Herbie.
But that wasn’t the worse one for the weekend. Dragons five-eighth Kyle Flanagan took a dive with 20 minutes to go wanting a high shot penalty.
There was nothing in it. But he got his wish. He was also sent for an HIA during the most crucial period of the match.
When will they learn?
In Other Games
- The Cowboys had the game won after just 30 minutes leading the Raiders leading 22-nil
- The Roosters led. The Eels led. The Roosters lead again to win. Entertaining to watch.
- The Broncos tumble out of the Top 8 with their 3rd consecutive loss. What state will they be in when their general Adam Reynolds returns? For the Bunnies, one word, Latrell!
