How hard is it to tip just five winners? This hard Tipsters.
The Origin curse has hit again. Seven teams had the benefit of the bye while the remaining teams battled it out in atrocious weather minus their Origin stars.
Results could have gone either way and they did. And it hurt many a Tipster.
Return of the General and King
The Eels started the round at home against competition leaders Sharks who are on a downward slide.
The return of Mitch Moses and King Gutho from long term injuries inspired the Eels to notch up their 1st win in seven weeks.
Moses looked like he had never been away with some Blues supporters hoping to have him parachuted into camp. Clint Gutherson was also electric running for close to 300m in his return match.
The team looked completely different to what was running around without halfback Moses. It also shows the mockery of the Eels board to have sacked Coach Arthurs just weeks before the star’s return. All in the name of FOMO and trying to lure Wayne Bennett over.
The fact the Eels board were also simultaneously guaranteeing Coach Arthurs his job was safe show they are as murky as the river they inhabit.
Dolphins Pipped by Raiders
Wow. This was an exciting game with both teams trading tries and field goals to take the match into golden point. The Dolphins had four genuine attempts to score and failed (including an illegal block on a successful kick). The Raiders just needed one.
Milko Herbie At It Again
Coach Bennett was critical about the referee’s performance in his team’s loss. Including this high caress on Herbie Farnworth. Serial diver Farnworth lay face down in the grass crying and waiting for a penalty. He was all smiles and played the ball when one wasn’t given but it wasn’t too long before Herbie was taken from the field for a mandatory HIA.
How is that for acting, Herbie?
The Big Upsets
The Dragons and Cowboys ensured most tipsters rounds were as bleak as Saturday’s weather.
The Dragons coming back from 10-Nil halftime deficit to win at the foot of the mountains after a halftime spray inspirational pep talk by Coach Flanagan. The Dragons looked a completely different team to runaway winners.
While in Sydney the Cowboys chased down the Roosters 16-4 lead to win by 2 points.
Supporters of both winning teams will be pleased to see only for and against separates them and the 8th placed Roosters.
In The Other Game:
The Bulldogs ran in six unanswered tries to resoundly beat the Knights for the 2nd time this season.
Round 13 Results
Main Competition
This week would have to have been the most bizarre week in FT history. A total of 48 tippers scored ZERO or less ! That means that only 5 tippers had positive scores. That has set the cat amongst the pigeons.
The Creator has had his lead cut to just 1 match. GeorgeTheDragon (who had been experiencing a slide down the ladder) scored 4 to move into 2nd place. SMOG and Magnum have dropped to 3rd and 4th places.
Big mover – UpthePamfers has moved up 10 places and into 9th (just out of the money) with a score of 4.
Special mention to isha68 who was the sole tipper to score the round high of 5. She remains in 57th spot.
The Standout
It’s not often that a score of zero is actually a good score, but that was the reality this week.
- Standouts correct – 4
- Standouts wrong – 49
- The average score – Minus 0.85
- Our round high – 4
- Needs to be documented. Minus 1 – 26 tippers
- Our round low was – Minus 2 (18 tippers – that is approx 1/3 of our field)
