Magic for the NRL, the state of Queensland, Brisbane, the fans, supporters watching from home. The players and all the clubs.
The whole weekend sold out.
All started with a record Women’s State of Origin in attendance (and viewing) to open the event.
The carnival atmosphere. Brisbane taken over by Rugby League. 30,000+ interstate travelers contributing to the Maroons economy.
Hit the encore Tiki man…
Fantastic for all.
All, except the Dragons who played the Bye and will take the mandatory two points.
The Best Round of 2024
Make no mistake, this was the best round of the season. I know this. You know this. And we weren’t even there.
All games but one were close and it didn’t matter who led at half time. Considering the amount of talent sitting in the injury ward, what was presented was amazing.
In fact, so much magic I can only do a quick summary for you. Otherwise, I will be writing all night.
Raiders v Bulldogs
Started with three misfired tricks (i.e. errors for tries) before the Raiders were transformed into a soccer team and still managed to win.
Their biggest magic trick was the Raiders 1994 Premiership team in attendance and being in the sheds after the victory. The respect shown by the playing group including a haka for the late Quentin Pongia was sensational. Coach Ricky Stuart was again emotional but for other reasons.
Enjoy the long week end Sticky and co.
Warrior v Panthers
The biggest trick of the weekend would have left Tipsters with Panthers standouts as sick as Panthers’ Jack Cole.
The Warriors are the competition enigmas and were eventually going to pull out something big to save their season.
Think twice about you standout!
Sharks v Roosters
Two of the best defensive teams managed to score over 60 points in total.
Another highlight and anyone who says the Sharks can only beat the bottom teams… well that is true.
Everyone is below them.
Bring on next week when they host the Panthers.
In Other Games
- The Broncos won by a field goal by Wests Tigers discard Jock Madden who gets better each game. I bet the Tigers wish they still had him.
- The Knights responded to the Titans five try spree with a comeback win.
- The Eels were smashed by the Storm. How good is Stormer Tyran Wishart going? The Eels season is over and coach Brad Arthur’s days are numbered.
- The Cows and Bunnies may have both forgotten how to win but there is only one winner (usually).
Magic Round Results
Main Competition
The Creator has bolted 5 lengths points clear of the field scoring a solid 7. SMOG and I miss Benji move into 2nd and 3rd places relegating GeorgeTheDragon to 4th spot (after he fell victim to taking the Panfffers as his standout).
Big movers were Magnum (up 6 places) and into the $$, and Not Last (up 9 spots) and now only 3 matches outside of the prize money.
The Standout
Up the Wahs !! Absolute Magic. Their win over the Panthers cost 26 tippers big time. That’s nearly half the field.
- Standouts correct – 28
- Standouts wrong – 27
- The average score – 5.31
- Our round high – 9
- Our round low was – 1
Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot
