Upsets galore if you only tip favourites with the depleted Panthers and Broncos winning. Yes, not such as big an upset as the Wests Tigers going B2B and the Dragons turning it around in Wollongong.
Perhaps the biggest upset is the Dolphins leading the competition needing to stop the Wests Tigers hattrick next week.
Highlight Matches
Wests Tigers Win. Again.
What a sensational end to the Easter long weekend with the Wests Tigers last gasp victory over the Eels.
Parramatta led almost every stat during the game. The Wests Tigers showed much resolve to repel the Eels in the 1st half defending 70% possession in their own half. It was 6 all at the break.
The Eels looked to have the game in the bag leading by eight when Tigers rookie five-eighth, Lachlan Galvin, was sin binned for a hip drop in the 48th minute.
In just his 3rd game of NRL, he looked like he was about to cry when he was called out by the referee. Until he mouthed the word “truck”.
Two sweet tries and a field goal later, the Tigers led with 26 seconds remaining.
A penalty off the short kick-off and King Gutho had the opportunity to boot the Eels to victory after the siren.
Half of CommBank Stadium went home disappointed. They wore blue and gold.
No Cleary. No Problem.
The Panthers have the wood over the Roosters in recent years. However, without key player Nathan Cleary, most thought the Roosters would break their drought. Including me.
Nope.
The Panthers seemed in control from the opening whistle. Even with the Roosters scoring a couple late tries in the final five minutes, and declined a conversion, the Panthers won comfortably.
There was talk after the game about some obstruction rulings, but I will leave that to my rant this week.
In the end, the stats were pretty even except the Panthers ran for 150m more.
Maybe next year Roosters supporters.
No Reece Walsh, Payne Haas. No Problem.
Two words. Adam Reynolds.
What a masterclass. His kicking game in torrential rain bamboozled the unbeaten Cowboys.
On the other side, Scott Drinkwater had a rocks and diamonds type of game. With many more rocks. The Cowboys’ reliance on him is reminiscent to the Rabbitohs with Latrell Mitchell.
The Cowboys leading the competition after just three rounds is not indicative of how lucky they have been. A big win over the Dolphins followed by a golden point win over the Knights, and an unconvincing start against the Dragons (oh, if only Saints led by 24-4 after 22 minutes).
The Cowboys are imposters.
The Cowboys play cellar dwellers the Titans next round while the new imposters the Dolphins, who they beat in round one, sit on top of the ladder. But not for too much longer me thinks.
In other games…
- The Dragons sent a reminder to all Tipsters not to tip against them as standouts at home. Home is where the Dragons win their games.
- It was the Raiders of old as they relinquished an 18-0 lead to be mowed down by the Sharks 36-22.
- Likewise, the Titans blew a 14 point lead to lose 14-30 to the Dolphins.
- The Wahs won and Souths opened their account for 2024 to rocket up to 16th position.
Round 4 Results
Main Competition
The Creator has assumed the lead of our competition. Looks a bit suss – the Treasurer leading the comp ???? Hmm ? If you are sceptical, you can check our website each week by having a look at our “The Experts Tips” article. Our tips are published each week prior to kick-off of the first match.
He only leads by point differential (23 points) from Panthers29 who managed the round high of 8 – he was the only tipper to score 8. I miss Benji and GeorgeTheDragon make up 3rd and 4th places.
Big mover – Admireel – up 19 places and into 9th (on cumulative scoring).
The Standout
Saints beat Manly. Tiges beat Parra. That pretty much explains the reason our numbers were so bad.
Atrocious. More wrongs than right again this week.
- Standouts correct – 12
- Standouts wrong – 43
- The average score – 2.45
- Our round high – 8
- Our round low was – MINUS 1
Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot
