Some massive blow outs and a few close matches pretty much sums up round 18. So many records were broken – too many to mention in fact. Historic wins and humiliating losses.
72 tries in 8 matches. The bottom 3 teams conceding a massive 192 points against. The Dragons were awful against the Sharks. The Tigers were annihilated by the Cowboys. Bulldogs fans booed their team off the park at half time down 30 – 0 to the Knights (I didn’t hear what happened at fulltime when they walked off 66 – 0).
While at the top of the ladder ;
The Panthers showed their class coming back from 14 – 0 down to the Storm, take the 2 points 34 – 16. The Broncos prevailed over the Dolphins in from of 30K fans at the Gabba 24 – 16. And the Raiders held off the Titans in close one 26 – 22.
Then just out of the top 8 – the Sea Eagles broke their losing streak in a seesawing contest over the Roosters prevailing 18 – 16. That’s back-to-back two-point losses for the Roosters leaving them in 13th spot on the ladder.

Main Competition
Things are now tight at the top. Big Baba, I miss Benji and TheZipZipMan ALL sit on 109 points at the top of the leaderboard – only separated by differential points. Guru2810 and Budgie (both on 107 points fill 4th and 5th places. There are only 5 points separating 1st from 10th place !
2nd Chance Competition
Early days of course, and a fairly straight forward round, but we do have an outright leader and 2nd place.
It doesn’t happen often but Footy Tipper actually got the fullcard and so leads the comp, but fear not, it cannot take the cash. So our leader on 320 points is actually I Miss Benji. UpthePamfers is just 4 points behind on 316. Four other tippers are battling for 3rd place, and sharing the $30 prize money.
The problem with this competition – when to pick an upset. The Bulldogs flogging couldn’t have come at a worse time for 22 punters who get zero points, while the 36 tippers who had the Knights to win picked up 66 points. That hurts on the leaderboard.
