Wrap Footy Tipper 2023 – Round 7

How good is this season! So much so I have struggled to piece together a Rob’s Rant. That’s not to say I haven’t got one ready.

  • We witnessed the Rabbitohs and Broncos come from behind to blow away their opposition.
  • The Nicko Hynes Sharks beat the ill-disciplined Roosters.
  • Even the hard to watch 1st half of the Raiders v Dragons was salvaged with the game coming down to the last play.

Here are my highlight matches for Round 7.

Sea Eagles v Storm

The Battle of Brookie was reignited in Round 7. It had it all. Spite, big hits, cheap shots, sinbins, cheating.

But also, a big crowd, entertainment and a spectacle.

The Storm showed how much Cameron Munster means to their team. He was great in a losing side. Manly also showed why I think they are a Premiership force if the can keep their spine together.

Warriors v Cowboys

I still don’t know what I watched here. So many errors but still an entertaining match.

We had Queensland’s great hope from last season (that fell short in the GF qualifier) against a Warriors team that just doesn’t feature.

This game was like a baton change in a relay. The Warriors are playing an exciting yet unconventional attack. They are in the Top 4 while the Cows sit on the shoulders of the Wests Tigers.

This will be interesting to see what happens through the Origin period with no players picked from the Warriors.

Knights v Panthers

Get a haircut or wear a man bun.

Newcastle fans should feel proud, yet cheated. The Knights were the best team on the night and having both Hastings and Gamble in the halves with Kalyn Ponga to return should excite fans.

The Panthers still keep finding ways to win. Knights Tyson Gamble’s field goal to win the game with less than 3 minutes to go should have been enough. Two words, Nathan Cleary.

West Tigers v Bye

Ok, so this is another cheeky dig on the Tiges. But this season we see at least one team each round bolster their score by two points. The ladder has team positions inflated. Only one team has lost the game after the bye and that was the Panthers v Eels in golden point.

The Wests Tigers host the Sea Eagles at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Sunday. Here is your shot Tigers fans.

Here are all the results from Round 7;

Main Competition

The big three prizes sees Guru2810 hold onto a 1 point lead over TheZipZipMan who has now jumped into 2nd place relegating Big Baba to 3rd place. How long will Guru2810 hold top spot? Who can stop TheZipZipMan? Or will they become a cameo like RoostersRock?

Let’s see what happens in ANZAC Round.

The Standout

  • Standouts correct – 64 (a big shout out to OG tipster Murch for finally nailing a Standout this season)
  • Standouts wrong – 1 (achieved by tipster isha68)
  • The average score –  5.8
  • Our round high – 12 by 2 clever punters
