Tries, tries and more tries. Defense went out the window. If you watched all 8 games last weekend, you would have been treated to 82 tries and a total of 466 points. If you add in the contribution from the 3 games in the NRL Women’s Comp, you would have seen 109 tries and a total of 604 points. You gotta love your footie don’t ya ?
The only game that caused the most consternation with tippers was the Grand Final rematch between the Panthers and Rabbits on Thursday night. Most punters thought that a depleted Panthers outfit would succumb to the Bunnies, but as they have proved all season, they can do enough to win the tough games. They led for all but 10 minutes of the match and it looked as though Souths would hold on to a 22 – 20 lead when Alex Johnston scored in the 70th minute. The Panthers showed composure and eventually sealed the match with a 78th minute try to Liam Martin. The victory (26 – 22) saw them grab the J.J Giltinan Shield yet again.
Here are all the results from round 23 ;
Main Competition
Yet again we have a new leader. Full cards to murch and Panthers29 have them leapfrogging Admireel and Turbohamstrings.
With only 2 rounds left to play Murch has a 2 match lead from Panthers29 (2nd place) and Admireel (3rd place after differential).
Turbohamstrings drops to 4th place while 9986 moves up into 5th.
Second (Chance) Competition
Robert Cook maintains the lead with a solid 358 point score. (Note – the highest score possible this week was 362 for a full card). StuartS hangs on to 2nd spot, while Bridie (by virtue of a full card) has moved into the $30 – 3rd place spot.
The Standout
- Everyone got it right. All 65 of us !!
- The average score – a very impressive 8.92
- Our round high – 12
- Our round low was – 6
Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot
With 9 clever punters (and Footy Tipper) managing to get them all right, the good news is the jackpot prize pool rises to $60 for round 24 (that’s twice the entry fee – well worth playing for).
Good luck with your tips this week.
