Round 19 – Retro round. A time to pull out your old jersey’s (or Hawaiian shirts) and flared jeans. Gel your hair or grow a mullet (a trend that seems to have made a comeback). Listening to the match of the round on your transistor radio on a Saturday afternoon. 2MS’s Frank Hyde sitting at a card table on the sideline calling the match and berating the bellboys for getting the way. The crowd urging him to sing Oh Danny Boy after the match ended – those were the days.
To the games ;
Adam Reynolds starred for the Broncos in the round opener at CommBank Stadium against highly fancied Eels. Parra scored the first try of the match in just the 4th minute but that was probably their only highlight of the match. The Broncos came back just 6 minutes later, and ended up putting on 24 points in the 1st half to go to the break with a 24 – 10 lead. The Broncos took the 2 comp points with the final score 36 – 14. The win sees the Broncos seal a top 4 position and relegates the Eels to 7th spot. All but 15 of our tippers tipped the Broncos !!
Ben Hunt’s stellar form continued to shine in the Dragons sensational victory over Stinky Manly at Kogarah on Friday. An already depleted Manly side were immediately on the backfoot when Benny crossed for 2 early tries in the first 20 minutes. In typical form, Saints do not have a clue about how to score tries – 5 tackles of one of the ruck plays, and then a speculative grubber into the in goal area and hope for the best. They didn’t score again until the 79th minute. Final score 20 – 6.
I wont say much about the debacle that was the Cowboys win over the luckless Tigers 27 – 26 due to a highly controversial final minute penalty goal. (I didn’t actually see the game live, but did watch the highlights). When even the winning coach in a post-match interview is surprised by the decision to award a penalty, you have to think something went wrong. The Creator sent me a text last night …… “Did you see that game? That was so f#7%ing wrong”. I sense another Robs Rant coming on.

Pressure is mounting as we head into the final rounds of 2022. Turbohamstrings leads shrinks to just 1 game from Murch. Panthers29 and Admireel still hold down 3rd and 4th places.
Second (Chance) Competition
iTerry and Robert Cook now share the lead on 761 points. Kane G moves into the prize money and only 12 differential points behind the leaders.
