Footy Tipper 2022 – Round 18 Wrap

The Sharkies win in Townsville 26 – 12 over the Cowboys saw them cement their place in the top 4. They managed to score 2 converted tries in the 2nd half – shutting out the Cowboys. Not a great start for the majority of tippers with only 25 of us predicting the win. Are the Sharks real contenders in 2022 ?

The Storm were handed their third straight loss in a seesawing match at home to the Raiders 20 – 16. The Storm jumped early with a try to Nick Meaney in the 5th minute, but the Raiders went into the dressing rooms up 14 – 6 at halftime. Injuries, sinbins, HIA’s dominated the 2nd half. At the 60 minute mark, the home team finally hit the lead (16 – 14) with a converted try to Harry Grant, but 6 minutes later James Schiller crossed for the match winning try. The big news was obviously the broken kneecap to Ryan Papenhuysen in the 20th minute. That’ll not only hurt Ryan but the Storms run to the finals too.

Want to see some tries ? If you missed it, watch a replay the Roosters/Dragons match (I wont be watching it again). 80 points scored in 80 minutes. 13 tries scored in total – 9 in the 2nd half alone.  In what looked like being a close game, the Dragons took a 14 – 12 lead at the halftime break, only to be swamped by 7 tries to the tri-colours. Final score 54 – 26.

Main Competition

Scores of 8 and 9 dominate the leaderboard. There was little movement in the top 8 – Turbohamstrings still leads by 2 matches from Murch. Panthers29 and Admireel hold down 3rd and 4th places.      

Second (Chance) Competition

Unlike the Main Comp, we have heaps of movement here. iTerry takes the lead from I Miss Benji (up 6 places) and Magnum (up 7 places). Special mention also to Robert Cook and StuartS who have worked their way up the ladder and into contention for a share of the cash.

Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot

We have our 5th winner this season. Remarkably gdadisho managed to jag the fullcard this weekend and takes the $30 kitty. Well done and congrats. Our prize pool reverts to $10 Round 19.
