Footy Tipper 2022 – Round 17 Wrap

There were only four matches to complete the split round, so why not comment on all of them. This will be quick.

Sharks v Storm

Most of us didn’t see this coming and got the result wrong?

No Cameron Munster for the Storm. No Nicho Hynes for the Sharkies. It was obvious who was missed the most.

The Storm had no answers against the Sharks who piled on six unanswered tries before scoring a consolation try in the final minutes of the match.

With Munster out of SOO III, NSW Blues supporters will be hoping there will be a similar impact to the Maroons.

Keep an eye out for the Origin III preview from myself and our official Queensland correspondent.

Sin-Bin

  • Sharks – Andrew Fafita
  • Storm – Brandon Smith for calling the referee a cheat when they were in possession of the ball. I am hearing he could be facing four weeks on the sideline.

Knights v Rabbitohs

This game was evenly poised until Rabbitohs Cody Walker scored an intercept try just before halftime.

After a strong performance the week before against the Titans, the Knights were pedestrian in comparison to the Bunnies.

Send-Off

  • Knights – David Klemmer in the final minute for an elbow to the head. I have watched this tackle multiple times and still can’t see it. He has escape suspension by the match review committee.

Wests Tigers v Eels

The Wests Tigers capitulated with less than ten minutes remaining in the first half after debutant Justin Matamua was sinbinned. The Eels ran in three tries before the break to hit a 16-12 lead.

Much to the delight of 50 Tipsters who had the Eels as standout.

Two late tries by the Tigers flattered the scoreboard but it wasn’t even a close match.

With Adam Doueihi back and encumbered Tigers Five-Eighth, Luke Brooks, admitting Adam’s best position is his position, things continue to spiral for this club. Looks like another episode of Wails From Tiger Town is inevitable.

Sin-Bin

  • Wests Tigers – Justin Matamua

Broncos v Dragons

The Broncos minus thirteen regular first graders powered through the Dragons in the second half winning their first game against their opposition in six starts.

Having Tariq Sims sit out 20 minutes in the first half didn’t help the Dragons cause. The game was entertaining and close until the Broncos scored three times in the second half.

Sin-Bin

  • Dragons – Tariq Sims late tackle
  • Dragons – Tariq Sims high tackle

Here are all the weekend results
