Maroons Win Origin 1
So let’s get this out of the way early. The Maroons were too good for a disappointing NSW Blues team. The Queenslanders backline and bench outplayed NSW in all facets.
They are in the box seat for Game 2 at Perth on 26th June.
You can check out my Game 2 preview next week.
Highlight Matches Of The Week
Speaking of Queensland, their highflying Cowboys and Broncos embedded themselves into the top four.
The Cowboys led from the front and never really looked threatened in their 31-12 romp over the Dragons.
The Broncos overcame key injuries to Payne Haas, Adam Reynolds and Herbie Farnworth leaving them a depleted bench of one. And if you watched the FOXSPORTS coverage, they were sure to remind you every two minutes.
The “Brave” Broncos were out on their feet but held onto a six point lead for the final 25 minutes. The Raiders just couldn’t find the knockout try.
But the match of the round had to be the Roosters v Storm and that is very hard for me to say. I sometimes only watch the last 10 minutes of their games.
It was a high quality, superfast see-sawing game with tit-for-tat tries, until the Storm scored the final two to win 26-18.
The upset of the round was obviously the Bulldogs smashing the Eels 34-4.
The Bulldogs looked like a completely different team while the Eels just didn’t show up. Somebody swab both teams!
The Eels only consistency is that they are difficult to back. Seriously, who would pick them?
Well, all but one Tipster did. Bulldog was the only Tipster to tip the Bulldogs. I’m not sure why?
To make things worst, 38 Tipsters were staring at a perfect round and 26 Tipsters had the Eels as a standout.
Don’t forget, we publish the Weekly Stats and Ladder Predictor to download each Friday (or Saturday if there is no Thursday game). You would have seen how many had tipped each team and the impact to our competition ladder.
Here are all the results from round 14 ;
Main Competition
We have a new leader! Turbohamstrings returns to the lead after six rounds battling to get back there.
Turbohamstrings leapfrogs, Murch and Panthers29 thanks to the debacle known as the Eels.
We also welcome MLC, Cruella, and Budgie into the prize money… but for how long?
The Standout
- 42 – got it right.
- 26 – got it wrong !!! All were on the Eels
- The average score – 5.5
- Our round high was 9
- Our round low was 2
Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot
We could have had 38 perfect rounds but ended with none. Either way the jackpot would have remained and now stands at $60. It’s the highest of the season so another reason to keep tipping.
Good luck with your tips and team this week.
