Footy Tipper 2022 – Round 11 Wrap

Super Saturday saw the top four teams play each other as a litmus test to where they stack up pre Origin time.

Cowboys v Storm

It was third v second in front of a sold out Queensland Country Bank Stadium. And didn’t the locals love it.

Despite the Cowboys leading at halftime by 12-6, they were by far the better team.

It took the Cowboys just 15 minutes in the second half to storm in another four tries running away with a 36-6 victory. Yet the score line flattered the Storm.

It could have been 50 points had all scoring chances been taken. Without players Ryan Papenhuyzen and Jahrome Hughes, the Storm are lacking the attacking flair that saw them lead the competition just two weeks ago. They now face the prospect of losing three on the trot.

Roosters v Panthers

The Roosters fresh off a win against the Eels started strongly and were well in the hunt until the Panthers raced in three tries in the last 12 minutes of the first half. The damage was done.

It was two tries a piece in the second half and the Panthers strolled to another comfortable win 32-12.

The Roosters drop out of the top four down to seventh with the Panthers now four points clear at the top of the ladder.

Eels v Seas Eagles

Turbo down. Tom wont be back until 2023.

The Eels scored in the final minutes of the match to take out a 22-20 win over (one of) their traditional rivals.

But the biggest talking point in the game was the season ending shoulder injury to Manly’s main weapon, Tom Trbojevic.

When he is fit, Turbo is the biggest danger on the field. Tragic news for Tom, Manly, NSW Blues and fans.

In Other Games

  • The round started off with an Adam Reynolds-less Broncos winning their fifth consecutive match and well and truly entrenching themselves in the top eight easily defeating the Knights in Newcastle.
  • Friday was the Battle of The Spoon where the Wests Tigers raced to an 18-0 halftime lead before the Bulldogs came within two points. But it doesn’t matter who is coaching the Bulldogs, they struggle to stay in the game, with the Tigers running out 36-22 winners.
  • The Dragons came from behind and held off the Warriors for a win
  • The Raiders made it three wins in a row defeating an uninterested Rabbitohs team
  • The Sharks easily accounted for the Titans despite the Titans scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to give them a chance to go to golden point.

Here are all the results from round 11 ;

Main Competition

Its still Murch and Turbohamstrings in the battle at the top of the leaderboard – both tippers scoring 8. Panthers29 and I miss Benji have moved into 3rd and 4th place leaping MLC who drops back to 5th place.  That said, the 3 of them are all on 80 points and only separated by scoring differential.

The big mover for the round was LetsGoPanthers who moved up 27 places and into 9th place and just out of the money.

The Standout

  • 63 – got it right.
  • 10 – got it wrong
  • The average score – 6.96
  • Our round high was 12 – achieved by 3 tippers… more on that below !!
  • Our round low was 1
