Firstly, I hope all those mothers out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day yesterday.
The round opener between the Rabbits and Broncos was the match that had most punters non-plussed. Adam Reynolds, in his first match against his old team mates, was greeted with boos from the crowd. Did that stir him on ? He systematically tore the Bunnies apart, picking up a try and 6 from 6 to take 16 points away in their 32 – 12 victory. The Broncos have now won 3 on the trot and move into the top 8 on 10 points. Only 13 out of our 72 tips received had the Broncos taking the points – but more amazingly Isha68 also had them as her standout !
The Panthers are beatable – and beatable at home !! It took the Eels in the local westie derby to prove it. In a sold out BlueBet Stadium, the Eels ended the Panthers’ undefeated run and 21-home game winning streak with a 22-20 win. It was your classic derby with both teams separated by a mere 6 points for most of the match. Parramatta then scored two tries in three minutes to snatch a lead over the reigning premiers late in the second half. A last gasp try in the 77th minute to Spencer Leniu gave the Panthers a sniff. Nathan Cleary then shanked his two-point field goal attempt and the Eels celebrated their return to the winner’s circle after a disappointing loss to the Cowboys a week earlier. The Eels were only supported by 7 tippers this week (that means 65 got it wrong). We also had 8 punters get their standout wrong his week – all of them were on the Panthers.

Main Competition
Murch maintains his leads from Turbohamstrings at the top of the ladder. Budgie and MJP181 have leapfrogged Craig Youngs Love Child who drops back to 5th place. The big loser for the week was Krusty, who dropped 14 places to 17th with a disappointing round of 3.

Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot
Amazingly we had yet another winner – our 3rd for the year. Congratulations TheZipZipMan who takes the $20 prize pool. Interestingly all 3 winners this year have been cellar dwellers (and I mean that in the nicest possible sense) and realistically out of contention for the major prizes. Goes to show that you should still put your tipsheet in each week – you just never know.
So our prize pool reverts to $10 for round 10.
