Footy Tipper 2022 – Round 5 Wrap

Apologies for the delay this week with the Wrap, I got caught up watching the US Masters where our very own walking mullet was in high combat with Americas Scottie Scheffler. No not the NRL’s walking mullet Ryan Papenhuyzen, but Cameron Smith. No not Cameron Smith, the other Cameron Smith…….

Spot the difference………

Seemingly it was an easy week for most tippers, with 14 of us picking the full card. Probably the first 3 matches of the round were the ones that had punters had the most difficulty with.

Sea Eagles vs Knights – Unfavoured by tippers, Manly prevailed in torrential rain in Newcastle 30 – 6. Only 26 of 72 tippers selected them this week. I’m guessing that punters thought that a Turbo-less Sea Eagles outfit would not be good enough to get over the Knights at home. Granted, the final score-line was not flattering to the battered Knights, with 3 of Manly’s 5 tries coming in the last 11 minutes of play.

Warriors vs Cowboys –  Punters were split on this one with 33 on the Warriors and 39 on the Cows. The Warriors came back from a 12 – 18 deficit at half time to win in Golden Point 25 – 24 courtesy of a Shawn Johnson field goal (on the back of a great set of 6 for the final play of the match, it must be said).

Roosters vs Broncos – The Roosters made hard work out of their victory over the shaky Broncos on Friday night. Tippers hearts would have been in their mouths at half time when the Broncos went into the sheds up 10 – 0. We had 70 tippers to 2 riding the Chooks. The Roosters came home with a wet sail to seal the win 24 – 20 mainly thanks to some Sam Walker brilliance. A perfectly weighted kick through in the 76th minute by Walker put Tupouniua in for a try to give them a 24 -16 lead.

Here are all the results from round 5 ;
