Thursday night saw the Storm hang on to a 15 – 14 golden point win over the Rabbits, after taking a 14 – 0 lead in to the sheds at half-time. Souths managed to get themselves back into the game in the 2nd half, but a glut of errors cost them the overall win. Ryan Papenhuyzen (undoubtedly the greatest mullet wearing player in the NRL) nailed the field goal in the 83nd minute to seal the victory for the Storm adding a nice touch to Craig Bellamy’s 500th coaching game. The Storm are now 2 from 2, while the Bunnies have yet to break the duck.
The Roosters effectively put the knife through Manly in the 1st half of their match at the SCG. Sam Walker, James Tedesco and Luke Keary tore the Silvertails assisting in their four 1st half tries. They went in for oranges with a 22 – 0 lead. Manly did manage a couple of tries in the 2nd half but the horse had already bolted. Final score – Chooks 26 – 12. If I remember rightly, it took Manly 5 rounds to scrape out a win in 2021 ? Last year, I do recall that after 4 rounds, they had concede a massive 156 points. May the trend continue in 2022.
The Sharkies stole an upset win over the Eels with an “after the siren” conversion to claim the 2 premiership points 18 – 16. Here in the Shire, the jubilation of the win was palpable with riots almost breaking out (something they do well out here). However our tippers were not so happy ….. only 12 out of the 75 of us thought the Sharks could win. 4 tippers even had the Snakes as their standout.

It’s still early days, but Footy Tipper (The Creators algorithm-based tipper) continues to lead the comp on 20 points. We then have 3 players actually leading the comp on 17 points – Lou, Stallion and T-Bone who are separated only by their respective differential scores.
Good luck with your tips this week.
