Round 22 marked the Women in League Round. The round endeavours to highlight the role of women in rugby league and also focuses on the gender inequity gap in the wider society.
With seemingly no end in sight to this interminable lockdown in NSW, the remaining 3 rounds will be played in Queensland, with a number of the games also be played in rural Queensland. Now unless people in Sydney pull their heads in and start to realise that this virus is real and very dangerous, Sydney could lose the Grand Final for the first time in history. Stop roaming the streets, stay at home, get the jab and grin and bear it like the rest of us.
So the Roosters survived a scare against the Broncos and managed to grab the coveted 4th place on the ladder with a 21 – 20.
The Beagles destroyed a flagging Eels outfit by 56 – 10. The win puts them in 5th place and within striking distance of the Roosters. I would like to lodge a complaint with the NRL too. It seems that Tommy Turbo survived a broken jaw in the match by virtue of having a metal plate inserted in there from a previous fracture. Frankly, he should be exempt from the high contact rule – he should be fair game ! If you hit him high, he still wont go down – where is the equity in that ?
A gritty 16 – 14 win to the Knights over the Sharks sees them jump into 7th spot. There is still a logjam of teams within striking distance of the top 8 but most are merely pretenders. Sharks, Dragons, Warriors, Tigers….. start preparing for a toned down Mad Monday. Knights, Titans and Raiders are still well and truly in the hunt. It still amazes me that you can win less games that you lose and STILL make the finals. Defies logic – except for increased revenue for the NRL.
