So we got there ….. eventually. Peter V’Landys worked his magic again to ensure that we completed round 20 (albeit a day later than originally scheduled). Doubt will remain on the timely completion of the regular season with the outbreak growing daily in Queensland. I mean they have even cancelled the much anticipated EKKA for the 2nd year running !!
They could consider moving the games to NZ but I think Jacinda has slammed the borders shut to most of Australia ?
Just a reminder, irrespective of how the latest developments play out in the next few weeks, ALL prize money will be paid out this year.
Here are the results for the weekend.
The flag ship game was the Storm vs Panthers – 1st against 2nd . – Potentially a grand final preview. Both teams probably having their best seasons to date. I think our resident PNG correspondent (and Panthers tragic) Gerehu3B summed it up best in her FB post below ….. The Storm taking the 2 points with a convincing 37 – 10 victory.
The race to the finals begins this round – the top 6 teams all playing each other ; 1 v 6, 2 v 5 and 3 v 4. The battle to get into that all important top 4 is on. Stinky Manly are stiffing on the heels of the Roosters and Eels for that prime spot, but their match against the Storm next weekend will be one to watch.
We also see 5 teams on 18 points vying for the last top 8 spot (not that it will matter come week 1 of the finals). 4 teams out of the 5 are shaky at best. Their form is hot and cold, hit and miss… causing headaches for coaches (and tippers). And then there is the Dragons who are just plain crap (back to lounge for 1 more week of the Olympics for me).

- Our round high was 9 and achieved by 3 clever punters. Well done murch, iTerry and MLC. It’s good to see MLC jag a top score – she has managed to get her standout wrong 5 times this season !!

Main Competition – Ladder Leaders
No major changes in the top 5 – Kane G and 786Om still hold down 1st and 2nd places. Rossco the Pom (3rd) reduced the gap by 1 point on the leaders.
