Thursday 1st July 2021 – Roosters vs Storm 7:50pm AEST
Tips will not be accepted after this time.
Big scores were the theme for last weekend’s matches. It started on Thursday night when the Rabbotohs absolutely destroyed the Broncos 46 – 0. They are now firmly ensconced in last place, having conceded 482 points this season – that’s at an average of 32 points per match. In his post-match conference Kevy Walters pretty much confirmed they are done. No secret that they are clearing out the ranks and restructure the roster starting Tevita Pangai who has been told he can look elsewhere for 2022.
The Panthers found some of their old form to knock off the Roosters 38 – 12. Were the Roosters hard done by ? Not wanting to harp on the issue, but the contentious sinbinning of Siosiuo Taukeiaho in the 22nd minute for a ”dangerous tackle” on Cleary could have been the turning point in the match. The Panthers put on 14 points in those 10 minutes. Commentators and coaches were also non-plussed with the call. Cleary slipped ! Where was Taukeiaho supposed to go ?
The Storm absolutely blew the Tigers out of the water, scoring an astounding 5 of their 12 try haul in the first 15 minutes of their clash. 10 different players lined up to get their names on the score sheet. Im not sure whether to believe it or not, but apparently Michael Maguire said NOTHING to the team at half time – then again, being down 40 – 0 at that point of the match, what is there to say ? (Except for a string of expletives)
Love em or hate em (and you know where I sit on that one), when Manly hit the afterburners, they are hard to stop. Down 24 – 8 at half time, they then piled on 48 unanswered points to humiliate the Titans in the 2nd half. They were ruthless – Reuben Garrick (4) and Tom Turbo Trbojevic (3) picked up 7 if their 11 try route. Begs the question …. Where were they in the 1st half ?
