Round 12 marked the NRL’s Indigenous round with all teams donning indigenous themed jerseys. The aim of the weekend is to highlight the social issues affecting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait island communities. Interesting to note that 12% of all current NRL players are indigenous.

  • The Storm continued their winning ways thumping the Broncos 40 – 12. That makes it 9 straight for the Covid-free Mexicans.
  • A 2nd half resurgence by the Warriors was thwarted by a 79th minute field goal to Valentine Holmes. That was enough to seal the Cowboys their win 29 – 28 in Townsville.
  • The Wests Tigers belted a weak Dragons team out of the park to the tune of 34 – 18. The slide has started early for the Dragons with just 1 win in their last 7 matches.
  • The Doggies showed some bite in their match against the undefeated Panthers. Well… in the first half at least. Leading by a mere 4 – 0 after 37 minutes, the Panthers found 2nd gear and rolled over the tiring Dogs 30 – 4.
  • Alex Johnston and Dane Gagai both picked up hattricks in the Rabbits 38 – 20 victory over the Eels. It was Cody Walker who led the way, having a hand in 5 of their 7 tries.
  • The Roosters had a strong win over the Raiders 44 – 16 in Gosford. Down 10 – 0 after 29 minutes, they went on to score 8 tries in the remaining 50 minutes.
  • The Sharks looked sharp in their 38 – 10 win over the more fancied Titans. Despite letting the Titans in for an early try (3 minute mark), they ran riot over the Gold Coast scoring the next 38 points. Poor handling and shoddy defence from the Titans didn’t help their cause.
  • The Knights surprised all punters with their gutsy win over Manly 18 – 10 at home. The win broke the Sea Eagles 3 match winning streak. The Knights had 55% of the possession, largely due to a rather lopsided penalty counts of 9 – 1 ……. After the match you could see that Dessie was just a little bit peeved by that.

The Standout

  • 67 – got it right.
  • 2 – got it wrong.
  • The average score – 6.57
  • Our round high was 9. Well done to Gerehhu3B, Lou and sharkies.fan.
  • Our round low was – 2
