Cut-off Times for this week…
Thursday 8th April 2021 – Rabbitohs vs Broncos 7:50pm AEST
Tips will not be accepted after this time.
I trust everyone had a great Easter long weekend. We were blessed with 5 days of NRL action.
A fairly easy round for tipping and it was also a round of some big scores.
The Manly Silvertails were hammered by the Penrifff Blackcats 46 – 6 in front of 6,000 at Lottoland. The undefeated Panthers maintain their spot at the top of the comp, while Manly maintain their wooden spoon title for the 4th consecutive week. I don’t need to mention (but I will cos I don’t like them) that they have now conceded 156 points in 4 games.
The Bunnies delivered the Bulldogs an early egg (albeit a goose egg) on Friday night, thumping them 38 – 0. The Bulldogs have not scored a point in the last 3 games (244 mins to be exact). The Rabbits, with 3 straight wins, now move into the top 4.
Ryan Papenhuyzen helped himself to 4 tries in the first 36 minutes in the Storms huge win over the Broncos 40 – 6. In fact it was 4 tries in 11 minutes of play leading up to half time.
The Sharkies ran themselves back into form with an impressive 48 – 10 massacre over the Cowboys. After back-to-back losses in the previous two rounds, they leapt of the gates and lead 36 – 6 at half time. There should be real concern in the Cowboy ranks who have now conceded 92 points in their last 2 outings.
A strong defensive effort from the Raiders saw them get over the Titans 20 – 4 at Jubilee Stadium. Ricky Stuart was rightly pleased given their procrastination against the Warriors last weekend.
St George continue with their steady start to the season with a good away win in Newcastle beating the Knights 22 – 13. The Knights were decimated by injuries during the match – Mitchell Pearce (pec muscle – serves him right trying to slap Tariq anyway), Kurt Mann (fuzzy head) and Tex Hoy (hammy). That brings their injury list now to 8 key players. Highlight for me was two goosebump inspiring tries to Tariq Sims (who my son thinks is a deadest legend).
The tricolours had a predictable win over the Warriors to the tune of 32 – 12. The Roosters lead 16 – 12 at half time. Brett Morris picked up 2 more tries, taking his season tally to a staggering 9 (in just 4 games). The ACL injury to Luke Keary opened the door for youngster Sam Walker (all of 18 years old) to take on the half back position. And the debutant had an impressive start to his career with a try assist and 17 tackles.
In a very scrappy game the Eels held on to beat the Wests Tigers 36 – 22. Leading 16 – nil at the 25 minute mark, the snakes looked in control. But to their credit the Tiges kept the game interesting well into the second half.
The Standout
- 69 – got it right.
- 1 – got it wrong
- The average score – an impressive 8.51
- Our round high was the fullcard score of 12 (did the jackpot go off ? Keep reading…...)
- Our round low was 2.
Main Competition – Ladder Leaders
The fullcard to Carlos sees him jump 12 places and into outright 1st place. He leads by one point from Pablo (go me !). We then have 8 punters locked in on 32 points and separated ONLY on point differential.
Previous Leaders
- Round 1 – MJP181 and MR TAYLOR
- Round 4 – StuartS
Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot
So while the bad news is that we did see the fullcard get selected this week, the good news is 4 punters managed to do it. We done to Carlos, Krusty, AaronC and Rab_i for achieving this rare feat, but it does mean that means our jackpot prize pool now reaches $50 for round 5
Good luck with your tipping this week.
