Footy Tipper 2020 – Round 18 Wrap

Cut-off Times for this week…

Thursday 17th September 2020

Rabbitohs vs Bulldogs 7:50pm AEST

Tips will not be accepted after this time.

Did you get the full card this week ? Did you win the $130 jackpot ? Read on to find out.

All games pretty much going as predicted by the punters. I only watched one full game this weekend and didn’t like what I saw, so this will be short. I’m actually more interested in the stats and leader boards this week. (Risk vs Reward as the Creator put it in last week’s write up). Only 2 rounds to go.

  • A late flurry of tries to the Tigers wasn’t enough to steal a win over the Bunnies, ultimately going down 26 – 24. (Risk vs Reward – I took Wests – at least there was a good old fashioned all-in-brawl).
  • Stinky Manly had their first win since Round 11 getting over the Bulldogs (and favourites for the wooden spoon) 32 – 20.
  • The Panthers won the “Westies” local derby at Penrifff Stadium 20 – 2. Now 3 points clear at the top of the ladder, they have all but cemented the Minor Premiership.
  • The Dragons started well in their match against the Raiders in the Gong. Debutant Cody Ramsey scored two first half tries for Saints which saw them go to half time down only 12 – 8. I then counted 3 defensive blunders in the second half to the young winger – the Raiders put on 25 unanswered points to easily get up 37 – 8 when the final siren blew.
  • The Titans inflicted yet more pain on the Broncos winning their match (and 3rd straight win) 18 – 6. The Broncos sit in 15 place – 9 straight losses – and the worst defensive record in the league.
  • The Roo$ters continue their charge to the semis with a convincing 42 – 12 victory over the Knights. The win keeps them in the top 4.
  • Cameron (Herman) Munster picked up a double in the Storms easy win over the Cowboys 36 – 20. The cowboys did pick up their effort in the 2nd half scoring three tries but were never going to catch the Storm.
  • The Sharks chased down a 14 – 12 deficit to beat the Warriors. Two tries in the last 7 minutes helped them lock in 8th place in the comp. Final score 22 – 14. (Risk vs Reward ? – I got that one wrong too).

So with only 2 rounds to go, the final 8 is now sorted….

…………but not the final 8 in our comp – that is still wide open.

NOW TO THE GOOD BITS !!!!

The Standout

65 – got it right.

1 – got it wrong

The average score – an impressive 9.03 – so if you got more than 1 wrong, you were below average.

Main Competition – Ladder Leaders

Sorry to blow the big surprise – but if you picked the Full Card this week you are not alone and don’t get any $$$. We had an unprecedented 18 of them this week (27% of tippers – more than 1 in 4) – one of them was Footie Tippers !! Yes – he actually got it all right !!

Now I know that blurb would normally come further down the page, but we had 5 full cards in the top 10 tippers alone and Mary McGregor WASN’T one of them.

Game on people !! Mary’s lead has been cut to just 1 match from 786Om. Punters in 2nd 3rd 4th and 6th places all recorded the  maximum scores of 12 and really opened things right up.

2 Rounds to go – Risk vs Reward (what a crock that is – don’t do it !). Anything can happen !!

Historical leaders

Aaron C and Chur_moi (Round 1)

Big Papi Productions (Round 4)

2nd Chance Competition – Ladder Leaders

Shagger (with one of our full cards) maintains his lead of the field. Seano moves up 1 place into 2nd, and Beaver (also picking the card) is up 4 places and into the $$$ in 3rd place (just 1 point clear of 4th).

A reminder, your score is based on what each of your selected teams score (win or lose). The sum total of the 8 games determines your overall score.

Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot*

Derrr – multiple full cards. No cash winners, so our prize pool jackpots to $140 for Round 19.

*Note:

– To be eligible to win this prize you must be the sole person to select the full card with a Standout.

Good luck with your tipping this week.
