Footy Tipper 2020 – Round 12 Wrap

Cut-off Times for this week…

Thursday 6th August 2020 – Dragons vs Roosters 7:50pm AEST

Tips will not be accepted after this time.

  • Last weekend we saw the NRL’s Indigenous Round. The aim – to highlight significant social issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people – the theme of the weekend (ironically) – “In This Together”.
  • The Rabbitoh got out of the gates late (down 16 – 0 in as many minutes) to roll the Dragons 32 – 24. ALL 32 of the Bunnies points were score by their Indigenous stars !
  • The upset of the round came on Friday night when the up and down Warriors handed the West Tigers a 26 – 20 loss. Similar to last week where the Doggies spoiled the party for tippers, this week the Warriors did the same. Had they NOT won, our tipping average would have been 9.89 with 31 full cards)

All other games went pretty much to script, but all the “underdogs” showed plenty of fight;

  • The Sharks did the Broncos 36 – 26 (the first time since round 9 that the Broncos haven’t conceded 40 points or more in a match)
  •  The cheating Roosters snuck in by 6 points over the 14th placed Titans, winning 18 – 12.
  • The Raiders managed to scrape in by one penalty goal over the Cowboys 14 – 12
  • The Bulldogs (who were down 18 – 0 after 28 minutes) clawed their way back into the game against the Eels scoring the next 16 points. They had their chances to win, but ultimately went down 18 – 16.
  • At a packed stadium on the Sunshine Coast (raising some concern with health authorities regarding social distancing) the Storm got over the Knights 26 – 16. Sadly for the Storm, captain courageous, Cam Smith, suffered a shoulder injury that could see him sidelined for 3 weeks. Don’t panic though, the NRL are considering offering the experienced referee a seat in “the bunker” during his recovery. The Bunker could certainly use his advanced knowledge of the rules.
  • Oh….and Manly got smacked by the Penrifff 42 – 12.
