- St Kilda’s emergence as an AFL force has continued with an upset 29-point away victory against ladder leaders Port Adelaide. The Saints produced a stunning final-quarter surge to win 12.1 (73) to 6.8 (44) to rise to third on the table. After leading by a solitary point at three quarter-time on Saturday night at Adelaide Oval, the Saints booted five goals to none in arguably the club’s best win in years (yeah …. that all happens 12 months after I left St K).
- Our own Robert “The Reaper” Whittaker won a dour UFC bout over Darren “The Gorilla” Till The fight went the 5 round distance, and in a close fight, Whittaker got the points with a unanimous decision.
- Engadine Bowling Club news – Dorothy “Dotty” Thatcher came up against the highly favoured Edna “The Young One” Young in the Ladies Singles Semi-final on Saturday. This highly anticipated battle did not disappoint the 15 strong crowd either. The match was a tight one up until the penultimate end when Dotty put down an absolute pearler on her backhand, trailed the jack and picked up 3 shots. Edna couldn’t do anything except applaud her opponents great bowl. The match finished 27 – 25 in favour of the 76 year old Dotty.
- Australian cricket superstar Ellyse Perry and Aussie rugby union player Matt Toomua have called time on their relationship. The sporting power couple, who tied the knot in 2015, released a joint statement confirming the news.
