Cut-off Times for this week…
Thursday 11th June 2020. Sea Eagles (Stinky) v Br0ncos 7:50pm AEST
Tips will not be accepted after this time.
Round 4 started with our reigning premiers, the Roosters handing the Broncos an absolute shellacking at Suncorp Stadium. It was a thumping for the Broncs, overtaking the humiliating defeat they suffered last year to the Eels 58 – 0. Ten tries to nil says it all. A field goal to Luke Keary on the stroke halftime turned out to be the difference between a big win and a record-breaking win 59 – 0.
“Here they go again, Manly and Parra….” as the Tooheys ad from the 80’s went. That match ended in a last minute try to Ray Price (Mr Perpetual Motion) after receiving a pass from Brett Kenny sealing the win for the Eels. In Saturdays encounter, the game ended with a last minute Tom Trbojevic pass to Garrick (that would have won the match) deemed forward. The pass clearly went backwards and the Sea Eagles fans can feel rightly cheated. Anyhow, stuff happens … get over it …. it was only Manly. They lost 19 – 16. My thoughts …they shouldn’t have left it to the last minute. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer team.
These were the comments posted to the “Round 4 Stats and Live Ladder” blog on our website. George (because I know he hates being called George) was clearly gloating over the fact he took the Roosters as his standout.
Two of those predictions came true, culminating in what I am calling – “Sunday bloody Sunday”. Upset wins to the Knights (34 – 18 over the Raiders) and the Titans (28 – 23 over the Tigers) saw 34 tippers get their standouts WRONG ! I mean seriously, the Titans broke a 364 day losing streak – who would have thought !?!
The Dragons woes continue with their 4th straight loss of 2020 – this time at the hands of the struggling Bulldogs (22 – 2). They now sit alone at the bottom of the ladder. They have won 4 games in the last 12 months with 2 of those wins against the Titans. The fans deserve better. I questioned McGregor’s re-signing with the club in April 2019 (a 2 year deal to see him through to the end of 2021). I would normally look to the players to cop the flack for poor performance, but I think it’s past that now. I encourage you all to post your thoughts below.
In other matches ;
- The Panthers sent the Warriors crashing back to earth with a convincing 26 – 0 victory. They maintain their undefeated start to the 2020 season.
- The Storm bounced back from last week’s loss to the Raiders, beating Souths 22 – 8. The Rabbits are now only 1 from 4 and are looking shaky.
- The Sharks had a good away win (their first win for the season) over the Cowboys 26 – 16. Having to face the Dragons next week, they should notch their 2nd win for the year.
The Standout
This is sad…….. (I’m personally blaming George!)
26 – got it right.
40 – got it wrong.
I thought last week’s average of 5.2 was bad. Well this week we managed a mere ……….. 3.7
Ladder Leaders
Big Papi Productions relinquishes his lead dropping 6 places with a round score of 1.

Footy Tipper Weekly Jackpot*
With the average score of 3.7 the money is safe. Interestingly, had Beaver selected the Titans he would have taken the $60. Suffice to say, he didn’t so the Jackpot rises to $70.
*Note:
– To be eligible to win this prize you must be the sole person to select the full card with a Standout.
Good luck with your tipping this week.
