Only 3 more sleeps to the relaunch of the NRL\u2019s abridged 2020 season \u2026. how excitement !!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope everyone has been keeping well during the last 10 weeks of isolation and restrictions. Personally I\u2019m really proud of myself \u2026. it has been 64 days since I\u2019ve been into a pub or club !! Quite an achievement. Thankfully it seems that we are now on the right side of the \u201ccurve\u201d and life will resume some sort of normalcy \u2013 STARTING WITH THE NRL \u2013 YES !! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the 2020 season being shortened by 5 rounds, we now have an extra $50 to give away ! My initial thoughts were to give the money to the winner of our Virtual comp, but since the winner was me, it was deemed wiser to put it back into the overall pool ; $30 going to the winners of the 2nd<\/sup> Chance Comp, and $20 into the weekly jackpot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The enforced mid-season \u201cbreak\u201d has seen plenty of controversy, both among the players and the NRL hierarchy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Annastacia Palaszczuk (get that one on a triple word score in Scrabble!) head of the socialist state of Queensland \u2013 just how is she helping the Broncos, Cowboys and Titans ? Easy one that one \u2013 she\u2019s not.<\/li>
  • One referee only for the remained of 2020. We hated them before they made their threats to disrupt the start of the season \u2013 now we just hate them even more. And now that we will have just the one ref, what chance have we got of that one person making an on-field call ?<\/li>
  • Greg Hartley, Graham Annesley and Bill Harrigan all volunteer come out of retirement to referee matches this year. At least they can make a call on field \u2013 albeit mostly the wrong call, but the bunker has proved that doesn\u2019t really matter.  <\/li>
  • The new \u201csix again\u201d ruck rule – referees will restart the tackle count for ruck infringements rather than awarding penalties. Just how will Cam Smith manipulate these new changes ? We have the inside story.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    OK\u2026.. so I\u2019m not going to do a full write up on all these issues this week, but I will be in the coming weeks. We would really like everyone to visit the site and join in the banter.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
