Apologies to those who enjoy my weekly, highly insightful and cutting edge match summaries each week, but I will not that doing today. Not because I don\u2019t care, but more-so the fact that I didn\u2019t get to see 1 game. I also got tired of reading about the charges laid to 23 players (so far) for so-called foul play. So rather than plagiarise NRL.com articles, I thought I would just play to my strengths \u2013 stats !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BUT before I do that though, it would be remiss of me not to share my memories of the late Bob (Bozo) Fulton. In short, he scared me<\/strong> – he was so dangerous !! In the early 70s, me and my father would spend every 2nd weekend sitting on the hill at Kogarah Jubilee oval, and my most vivid recollections were fearing the matches against Manly.
They were a team stacked with overseas imports. Their forward pack was big, tough and super aggressive \u2013 (if they were playing today, I reckon the match would end up being 8 on 8 \u2018cos the rest would have been sent off or sent to the bin). But running off the momentum of the big forward pack was a little “ferret” called Bob Fulton\u2026 He was playing in the centres (according to the Big League at least) but he would spend more time in the halves. If he didn\u2019t score himself, he would set up tries for the likes of Ray Brannigan, Graham Eadie or Ken Irvine in the backline.
Australian rep, captain, coach, selector, commentator and rightly acknowledged as a Rugby League Immortal.
Of course Bob was immortalised, not only as a RL legend, but will also be remembered in one of my favourite schoolyard songs (sung to the Waltzing Matilda theme)\u2026\u2026 \u201cManly Warringah, Fultons a stinker, Brannigans a poser and so are the rest \u2026..\u201d. That could explain my unresolved childhood issues and abhorrence of Stinky Manly (LOL).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n


<\/em>Now for the bits I really enjoy\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Standout<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  • A mere 26 \u2013 got it right.<\/li>
  • 40 – that\u2019s right 40 got it wrong. <\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • The average score \u2013 a paltry 4.88<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 so if you scored 5 you should be pleased.<\/li>
  • Our round high was 9. Well done to Big Moose and SMOG<\/span><\/strong> for achieving that feat.<\/li>
  • Our round low was \u2013 0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Did you know \u2026.. ?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We have only 6 active and regular punters who HAVE NOT<\/span><\/strong> got their standout wrong yet. We also have 4 punters who HAVE <\/span>got their standout wrong <\/strong>on 3 occasions !! (I know who are, but wont name and shame)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Main Competition \u2013 Ladder Leaders<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    We have a new leader \u2013 the first change since round 4 \u2013 786Om<\/strong><\/span> surges to a 2 match lead. Unlike 7 of the top 10 he DIDN\u2019T take the Roosters as his standout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Kane G<\/span><\/strong> (despite a score of 4) hangs on to 2nd<\/sup> place, while Big Baba<\/span><\/strong> jumps 9 places and into 3rd<\/sup> after point differential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Special mention to Big Moose <\/span><\/strong>who worked his way into the money with that round high score of 9 (jumping 17 places).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
