Round 4 Preview and Tips

It’s another fascinating round of football. Check out my preview and selections for Round 4.

Sea Eagles v Roosters

The gift that is DCE just keeps on giving when the circus act returns to Fortress Brookvale.

DCE’s latest press conference is about how well respected he is amongst the Manly fans especially on the hill and also how he would prefer to retire than force a young half out of the Roosters squad.

Hmmm…

If the Manly team and fans cannot get up for this game, when will they? To me, even though the Roosters halves have not gelled, they still look better than the Sea Eagles right across the park.

This will be Manly’s 3rd straight loss at home for the season.

Fortress Brookvale is no more.

Battle Of Brisbane

The Broncos v Dolphins is another interesting match-up. The Premiers(x1) have the wood over their little brother but boy, there are plenty of cracks showing up at the Broncos.

Club great Gordon Tallis saga continues. Defensive coach Ben Te’o quitting the Club. Payne Haas out injured and question marks of Adam Reynolds’ fitness.

The Broncos are ripe for the picking. The ‘Phins on the other hand have competed in all games including their one loss against the Bunnies where they still scored 30 points (enough to win most games).

It will be another bad week for Madge’s team.

Round 4 Spoon Bowl

The season is only four rounds old, and we (the royal we) are already using the spoon bowl banner.

Last week it was the Cows v Titans. This week it’s the Titans v Dragons.

Both teams are due for a win but good luck guessing which one that is. The Titan’s halves have the wood all over the Dragons who were dreadful against the (cheating) Eels. Take out the Couchman brothers and I think the Dragons might feature in the next two weeks of Spoon Bowls v Cows and then the Sea Eagles.

The Standouts

Unsurprisingly, you have multiple teams that are standout material and they are big guns Wahs, Panthers and Storm. Surely there won’t be any upsets like last round?

In Other Games

Fletcher Sharpe returns for the Knights, but I believe the Bulldogs will be too strong while the Raiders are in the last chance saloon for me when they take on the gummy Sharks.
