SOO III & SERIES WRAP

Happy SOO III,

It was refreshing to see a full game of Ruby League on Wednesday 9 July 2025, as the first match I fell asleep and the second I saw the second half and was on the edge of my seat, worried as anything that went into the Maroons 10-20 metres, you had to remove your bets as it was a sure thing.

I am both saddened and find it hilarious at the same time, that in the few minutes after the final hooter (when the scoreboard displayed 24-12 Victory to the Maroons) I received a phone call from the Creator.  It went like this:

cry, sob, sob, cry, sob, the Blues, sob, cry, OMG, not again, how can I live with myself for the next 12 months being remind of the heartless pretty boys who just don’t get it………”.

It went on and on.   I said nothing except this valediction, QUEENSLANDER.

I hope he is alright, but maybe not with MLC beside the Creator smirking.

Where was the ticker from those pretty boys, who had so much promise?  Ask Gus Gould who laid the boot into Laurie Daley’s outfit.  LOL, just like what the Cockroaches do always after a humiliating defeat.  I tell you now, that would not happen to any Queensland side or coach, as we support our team and state.

It was an almost flawless display by the Maroons with only one display of ruby league from the Cockroaches in the dying seconds of the match.  That to me was so hilarious in itself.  Something to bring back for the Cockroaches next year.

I just reiterate what has been said in the public arena:

  • SHELLSHOCKED: QLD stun NSW in incredible 12-year first as Billy’s call pays off
  • QLD PLAYER RATINGS: Billy’s Origin rookies shine as Dearden records perfect 10
  • MUNSTER: Billy in tears in emotional embrace as skipper reveals touching act

A couple of rookies have come in and like always made their mark on the game.  Hats off to all the boys past and present, stellar effort.

I admit that I don’t really follow the weekly matches and haven’t done so for years.  But when it comes to SOO, this is where I step up to the plate and get energised.  Through the years of the Domin8te years, I was riding high from the first win one year to the series defining game in the next year.  It just was inspiring.

I am a proud, loyal Queenslander and just love the series.

All my love,
