S3 EP2: Wails From Tiger Town

In Case You Missed It – Episode 1 Recap

The West Tigers and their halfback Luke Brooks have found some form with wins over the reigning premiers Panthers, Dragons and a 48 point win against the Cowboys. That was three wins in four weeks and delegated fellow basket case the Dragons to the cellar.

But that is where the good times end with some teams having had two byes like the Tigers, and others none like highfliers Broncos and Rabbitohs.

Which leads me onto…

Battle Of The Spoon

This battle always attracts my attention with the Tigers looking at avoiding going back-to-back.

Courtesy of the extra bye the Tigers hold out the Dragons by 3 differential points. The Dragons looked to have this covered until the Rabbitohs scored 3 times in the final 3 minutes of the match.

The Dragons have their 2nd bye this weekend while the Wests Tigers play the Storm (minus Origin players). That’s before the Wests Tigers have their 3rd and final bye a week later.

Add to the mix the Bulldogs sit just two competition points ahead.

The spoon could come down to the RD21 match between Dragons v Wests Tigers in Wollongong.

Luke Brooks Is Moving On

Moving on and time to keep smiling

Luke Brooks has stunned the Wests Tigers by rejecting a new contract for next season leaving the Club in a bit of hole.

A change is what everyone outside the Club has been saying would be the best for Luke.

The coaching staff are finally getting results, Brooks is in his best form for 5 years. But you can’t question loyalty here. Brooks has played 10 years for the Club, never played a finals series, seen multiple coaches come and go. He asked the Club for a release on a couple times to be denied, while the Club has been having talks with any player that has become available for years.

Mitch Moses, Mitch Pearce, Shaun Johnson, Josh Schuster…

I know which party has been loyal.
