Every weekend is a footy-fest but this weekend more so.
Saturday
Saturday, is the annual Beer Footy & Food Festival @ Henson Park.
This is traditionally the biggest home game for the Newtown Jets and they take on Wests Magpies for the Tommy Raudonikis Cup
There are beer tents from local brewers across Sydney as well as food trucks serving some of the finest food you will find at any football game.

Let’s hope this doesn’t get washed out.
Sunday
Then Sunday, our attention turns to the Dragons v Rooster in the NRLW grand final in Redcliffe.
For the first time in its four year history, there will be no Broncos premiers.
Top of the table leaders, the Dragons, will start as red hot favourites against a Roosters team that lost more games than they won. The Roosters, however, come off a 22-16 victory against three times Premiers the Broncos after trailing 16-0 in as many minutes.
Kick-off is Sunday @ 1:30pm from Moreton Daily Stadium and will be televised on Fox Sports and Channel 9.
Battle Of The Spoon
I know it is only Round 5, but the battle at the bottom of the ladder is already looking interesting.
We have clear cut spoon favourites Wests Tigers anchored at the bottom having lost all games this season (and the last three to end 2021). Above them on 2 points are the Dragons, Bulldogs and Rabbitohs.
Coaches are feeling the pressure and are making changes to their line-up which I don’t think is to the teams’ benefit. Their jobs are results based and I can see they are starting to clutch at straws.
The Bulldogs have taken a leaf out of Broncos coach Kevin Walters 2021 play book and will have their 3rd different halves paring in five matches. The Dogs were towelled up by the Storm 44 – 0 last week and face the undefeated Premiers this week. Lots of pressure will be on reinstated half Kyle Flanagan after being on the outer for so long.
The Dragons have also been tinkering. After all the talk about Dragons young guns, Tyrell Sloan and Talatau Amone, both were dropped last week. The Dragons play the Rabbitohs and I don’t see their fortunes changing this week.
Enough has been said about the Wests Tigers and their last minute loss to the Titans. They have the Sharks, Eels and Rabbitohs. They will be 0-7 before they face the Dragons in Round 8.
Tipsters, Wests Tigers and Bulldogs are both paying $7 to win this week. Here is choice for this week’s standout.
Good luck to your team and with your tipping this week.
