Latrell . What a polarising player. His shot on Joey Manu was disgraceful and with no thought of consequences.
Latrell Mitchell’s state of self entitlement has been on display all season. I don’t know what would have happened had his 2nd half try spike celebration, next to an opponent’s head, had not been so accurate.
On the weekend, Latrell let himself down. His team. His supporters. And all NRL fans. Just when we thought the two horse race was a race of three, the reality is it will be a GF replay between Panthers and Storm
But what makes me angry. And I mean Latrell angry, is the NRL.
The moment the Bronco’s Tyson Gamble was sin binned for brushing an opponents head at the start of Magic Round, the bar was set extraordinarily low.
And if you are going to start a crackdown for player welfare and concussion then stick to it.
Roosters half, Luke Kearey stated on Big Sports Breakfast the crackdown is Ok but after a few weeks, it will be back to normal. And he wasn’t wrong. Manu had to remonstrate twice before any action was taken. Latrell was sinbinned for 10 minutes which is an absolute farce. Any player who is facing 4 or more weeks suspension should have been sent off.
Magic Round was not so magic after all.
To Latrell’s credit, he has accepted the six week ban and will return in 2022.
They may not have any successful teams in Origin or the NRL Finals, but footy fans in Queensland are enjoying the relocated competition.
Three Origin games. Double headers. Games played regionally and on boutique grounds. Potentially the Finals Series. Queensland league fans have it all and from the comfort of my lockdown lounge room, it has been great viewing.
It’s the final week. Teams may or may not be resting key players so this will be a tricky round.
Good luck with your final selection for 2021.
