Dear Footy Tipper Members,
This competition is operated by dirty cockroaches. My history is that I lived in Sydney for 20 years. For the last ten years, I was walking on water.
When I left, the wheels fell off. We heard words over the years like:
* Dominat8.
* Only 9 years.
* Legends.
* The worst QLD team in history.
* Whitewash.
To be honest, I saw NSW cry through those final five years. The QLD team, just got sick of NSW boys and state crying. So what does an honourable side do, just give the kids a bone and let them play with it. Me as a loyal QLD supporter, I just wanted them to shut up, and they did, thank God and I am not religious.
A couple of facts of note:
1/. QLD won the first historic game in 1980.
2/. QLD has the longest winning streak of nine years.
3/. QLD have the ability to blood them young, Ben Iken debut at the tender age of 18.
4/. QLD has management stability. Mal Meninga is the longest serving coach at 30 matches.
5/. QLD has two players with the most games played, Darren Lockyer and Cameron Smith.
6/. QLD has 23 series wins over NSW 13.
I hold my head up high with the above key facts, but nothing takes it away from how great the heart of a QLD is. That heart was the only thing that allowed me to cope through 20 years of living and working in Sydney. I excelled alongside the QLD’s.
I remember having beers with the likes of:
* Defending Chamption.
* Pablo.
* The Creator.
And they could not handle the QLD spirit and extremely upset when they lost. I sincerely hope they have loved one’s close by this year. I do care for them!! Dirty Coackroaches.
