Maroons At It Again

NSW born & bred. NSW Junior Origin Representative, Greg Inglis, masquerading as a Queensland Origin great.

As a NSW supporter, we are used to the annual ducks and drakes pantomime from north of the border.

  • Always naming the Maroons team a day after NSW
  • Alphabetically, so no positions are locked in
  • The extended playing roster to cover for key players in doubt (everyone knows they are all playing)

Now the Maroons have gone a step further with an audacious move to host Origin 1 due to the Melbourne lockdown. The QRL had gone so far as to book out venues for accommodation and functions in North Queensland. The Queensland Government also opened their cheque book.

And the NRL have agreed to this change.

Fox Sports commentator, Braith Anasta previously stated this is “Disgraceful” and “How much do we have to [always] give them?”

While the smiling Queensland colleagues, Cooper Cronk and Corey Parker, could only add “This would be a huge advantage”.

This is the first time a State has hosted consecutive matches in Origin history. Queensland, the opening two matches, and NSW the Decider/Dead Rubber.

I couldn’t agree more with Braith’s comments, “Disgraceful”.

The Maroons will once again start as underdogs.
