Steve ‘Slippery’ Morris debuted in the Dragon’s 1979 Premiership winning side from the Dapto Canaries and won the Dave Brown Medal (now Clive Churchill) for his GF efforts.
A Winger/Half Back who played for the Dragons (1979-1986) and the Roosters (1987-1990). Slippery represented NSW and Australia. S-Moz (no don’t do that) was also a three-peat Dally M winner.
Where we are in an era where player welfare and burn-out is a focus, Slippery managed to juggle his off-season time in England with Warrington (1982-1986), Salford F.C. (1987) and Leeds (1988).
Maybe he knew how much food his twins would take off him?

“My first game of footy was watching the 1979 Grand Final on TV.
My biggest memory of Slippery was the 1985 GF loss. The Dirty Dogs manipulated a rule where you could bomb into the in-goal area and receive a drop out. Once the Bulldogs hit the lead, they did this all game.
The rules were changed the very next season.
My hightlight was seeing Slippery run 80m to score the lone Dragons try to bring us back in contention.”
