The NRL returned last weekend and what a great start to the season. Watching the RedV throw tries to their opposition or the Dragons spirited fightback was not my highlight on this wet evening.
It was the queues. Yes, crowds are back! At least 75% of them and I was more than happy to time my bar/food run just before/after kickoffs for all those Dragons and Sharks supporters who braved the wet and ordinary time slot.
Manly Under Fire
Just one week in and Manly’s underperforming squad have heaped pressure on calm and collected coach Des Hasler. The media have already singled him out after their 46-4 flogging by the Roosters. Failing to make the Top Eight last season and with just one win in their last ten matches doesn’t help Dessie. Lets see how Lottoland treats them against the Bunnies this week.
The Purity Of The NRL Ladder
Each season, you can identify the pretender teams and those who should place higher by the for and against score. Round 1 see the ladder at its purest form. Use this as a guide if you need help with selections later in the season.
Footy Tipper will also use this in it selections. Obviously it doesn’t really have much form at the moment sitting in 71st spot.
The Cream Is Already Rising
Just one round in and there is a noticable gap between the heavyweights and the rest of the competition.
My top four prediction is Storm, Roosters, Raiders and Panthers with the Rabbitohs and Eels in sixth and seventh place. This leaves two spots to be filled and your guess is as good as any. Hard seeing many teams beating the top four.
Good luck with Round 2.
