ANZAC Day is the most important day on the calendar.
It is a day to remember the men and women who have fought and made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedom and liberties we all enjoy today.
ANZAC Day 2020 is very different with the coronavirus halting many traditional events.
However, the true spirit of the ANZACS has re-emerged with the participation of the Dawn Ceremony spreading out to local homes in suburbs around the country.
Being out, in the front yard, listening to the Dawn Service broadcast was a nice way to participate. To hear the last post and national anthems all out of synch across the neighbourhood was special.
This is how traditions are born.
As you enjoy the sunshine this weekend, please spare a thought for those who have made this possible.
Lest we forget.
ANZAC Round
This is my favourite round of the season.
All teams walking out shoulder to shoulder, brothers in arms, to the applause of the crowd.
Eight matches. Eight last posts, minute of silence, reveille, Australian and New Zealand national anthems.
This is the Game, Clubs, Players, Supporters and Returned Service Men and Women all coming together. This is the round of respect and positive energy.
This will be missed in the NRL 2020 season.
